republic wireless is going truly unlimited

    http://republicwireless.com/blog/unlimited

"Rather than revising our fair use policy, we’ve decided not to have one at all. There will simply be no thresholds, and no risk of losing service. We’re doing away with all of that to keep all of the focus instead on where it really belongs: Creating a new wireless future together. A future that is simple to understand, unfettered to use, and an amazing value for all. That’s what we started down this path to do. That’s where the power of this vibrant community, dynamic Wi-Fi ecosystem and revolutionary technology should be invested. We’re all-in."

So does this mean they will also be allowing unlimited cell use when away from your wifi?

    Why, yes it does!

If this were to truly work well, I could see landline phones really starting to disappear. I know that they have fallen off already, but at this price, and if the call quality were good......I could see it happening.

This is only for the BETA period. There is no way that they can support truly unlimited in the long term...
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.

I think rw got tired of constant questions/confusion around their fair use policy. To nip that in the bud they say they are removing their fair use guideline AND falling back to their terms of service clauses(that probably come for sprint, you can still get pinged for abuse, just the regular kind of abuse not rw's fair use policy(hell they could very well parallel but non of that fair use lingo that was causing all the comotion)).

Plus this is beta, they're treating this as a learning experience and no telling when and what form the actual service will take, if at all. They'ed have to cap or go the simplemobile route of saying unlimited but having a cap. No way an mvno is going to be offering unlimited data on sprints network for $20 bucks. Although 20 for unlimited data sounds fair to me, those pigs in the telephony biz are the poster boys for exploitive greedy pigs nickel and diming us.

And we can all be thankful in this holiday season that the att/tmobile deal fell through.

Oh the phone works, cellular works quite well, the wifi calling is hit and miss. Sometimes it is very clear most of the time it sounds a little tinny and a few times it has been very bad, but just a few.
Still their VOIP app need lots of work.
Turned my phone back in for a refund. The phone is perfect, cellular is perfect, wifi not so. But Christmas and all the bills it brings, I decided I needed to get rid of some bills. And while RW is only 25 after tax a month the wifi calling not being up to par with the cellular calling it went back.

Maybe some day if they get their VOIP as clear as cell or land line calls, who knows.

Well there we go, you are the first one that has posted any experience. So now it's their move, WIFI VOIP can be quite good, I have Skype over WIFI on my Tab (non phone) and it works great! By chance were you in the beta, if so, did they mention updates, or rather being able to update the phone to get a better WIFI experience?

    I read January.

I didn't mind the "more you use with WiFi the more data you get to use on the cellular network when you're off WiFi coverage" thing. That was fine to me. I use WiFi a lot anyway. Now all they really need to do is improve the WiFi calling performance, & get another Smartphone.

Well I'm topped up through March with PPC UTnT. If RW comes out of Beta by then I'll have to consider it.

I've considered dropping my landline, but am not sure how I would handle in/out faxing capability from my multi-function printer. So we keep the landline.
