Droid 2 vs Droid 3, & general comparisons of Droid keyboard vs Blackberry...

I'm currently using a Droid Incredible, which I like alot...

I haven't been keeping up on phones recently, but I do use this Droid as well as a Blackberry for work.

Due to economic conditions, I'm thinking about switching to just 1 phone for work and personal uses, and I'm thinking about either the Droid 2 (2nd hand on ebay; that's how I got my Incredible) or the Droid 3.

I've heard the Droid 3 is bulkier than the Droid 2- that makes me lean more towards the 2, because I like the compactness of my Incredible, and obviously, not having the most cutting-edge technology is not a deal-breaker; either would be an upgrade from my Incredible.

Is there anything about the Droid 2 which would cause you to warn against purchasing it?

Next question: in general, how do these Droid keyboards compare to Blackberry keyboards, in terms of sheer speed and comfort? I am a machine typing on my Blackberry- is it possible to get to that level of comfort on these Droid keyboard?

    Thanks for all your help!

I had a Droid 2, albeit for only a couple months because I really wanted an X at the time. The build quality was excellent as with most Motorolas, the reception was as pretty good (I still think the X is better than any others, my RAZR included, but I digress), and the keyboard was excellent especially compared with the Droid 1.

That being said, learning to type on it did take some getting used to compared to my Blackberry. The Blackberry is much easier to type on one-handed, which really can't be done with a slider-keyboard. Once you get the feel for it, though, it's pretty good. You have to learn almost a rocking motion where you tilt the phone up towards your thumb on whichever side of the keyboard you need to use.

Once mastered, I was close to being as fast on the Droid 2 as on a BB. But I still think the BBs have the best physical keyboard layout/design available, and I would recommend staying with that style to anyone who has to frequently bang out long or detailed messages on the go. I've noticed that I keep my messages shorter and to the point when using a slider keyboard or full touch screen.

I've never owned a Droid 3, so others will have to comment on it, but if I was in the market for a full-keyboard phone I'd probably just go for the D3 just for the sake of future-proofing.

Thanks for the tips. I may indeed go with the Droid 3, as I believe it is actually the thinnest of the Moto Droids, contrary to what I had thought...

I will just try to adjust as best I can to the keyboard. If Blackerry's actually had google maps, I would go for the new Bold, but since I find Bing to be unusable due to scantness in NYC, I am happy w/ Android.

I don't think I feel like waiting around for the Droid 4 (I have an upgrade coming up); I'm not dying to have 4G, and differences beyond that, I am not caught up on, nor am I really interested in being so...
