Verizon now offers Caller ID Name (Share Name ID)

Let others see your name before they take the call even if the called party does not have your number in their address book. Share Name ID is a free service from Verizon Wireless. If you do not opt in for this service, the caller will see WIRELESS CALLER on their handset when you place a call to them. Share Name ID is not available on all calls, on all equipment or in all areas.

You log onto My Verizon to add it. It is free.

Speed Test with DSL internet with AT&T(Bellsouth). Horrible.

Yeah, it's been available for a few months. Haven't tried it yet, but it's a cool option to have.

It works... you can set it to anything you want. Had it rolling for a bit now.

It works well, but it seems to take anywhere from 1-3 weeks for changes to propagate completely.

I changed mine online and it showed the change the next day. I was Santa Claus this past month.

Yeah there was a post on this a couple of months ago, I don't have any desire to change mine but I can see how this could benefit some VZW customers.

I don't know if there's a limit to the number of times you can switch; however, my understanding is that changes will only show up as often as the receiving caller's phone company updates their logs.

Hope it is as often as you like. It was not clear which of the two lines I was changing, and I didn't realize that I had to select the option (write-in name) that was already pre-selected to make the "Submit" button work. As a result, I went back and forth a half dozen times trying to get the right name with the right phone number.
For those who are about to set this up with multiple lines, the number you are adding a name to is in the box with the white background, and the other number has the darkened background. (I suppose if you have more than two numbers, this will be obvious).
    The webpage was poorly designed.

Only thing I worry about is in the agreement it says we are allowing 3rd parties to have our numbers. Does this have any implications over wireless numbers being out there for the telemarketing picking?

It used to be under "Profile" on the My Verizon app... I can't seem to find it now. On their OLAM, it was under features.... likewise, I could only find it by searching for "Share Name ID" once logged in........... I hate their OLAM.

Some carriers seem to never update their info. Cablevision (optimum voice) never updated for months to get what I changed it to.

Yea, this has been available for a few months now.

The default is "first_name last_name", of the account owner. I initially went with this, and it was available the next day. However, I quickly realized that for most Caller ID names, they are "last_name first_name". So, I switched mine, and that change was available the next day.

Unlike personalized plates from the DMV, it doesn't seem like VZW does much checking. You could even use "Obama Barack" or "Jobs Steve".
