my phone is driving me crazy

My N1 has started to cycle periodically. From a sleep screen to the start page for a second or 2 then dark again. I cannot find out what is causing this. Any ideas?

Is it possible an app running in the background waking up the phone for a few brief seconds?

I've been eliminating apps,but so far no luck.

Maybe you have a lockbot or something as start app ?
Connecting to another rebooting app as in a looping circle ?

Have you tried formatting it to factory settings ? There can be a problem with your battery as well. Do check that.
