Well the phone is sim unlocked out of the box!! The uscellular version is anyways. and Its the MODEM that stopped it. After Loading a Verizon Rom and S-off root and everything still no go. Loaded an Verizon Modem! BAM! worked on AT&T
It is the Radio firmware that you updated. The link you gave to http://2fastroms.com/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=244 is titled Htc Merge Official Radios and the link to the file is the Verizon radio file. As I said before it is a software lock for US carriers. The radio firmware has a software lock for US carriers just like the TP2 did.
See references to WU (Worldphone unlocked) from the Touch Pro2

The relevant section is Q: Why won't my phone work in another GSM/SIM card/carrier even though it says the SIM is unlocked? A: There is a Security Mechanism in the phone preventing you. You must install a new Radio to get around this.
I know this is for a different phone, but it is a Qualcomm processor and seems that this should work. Dont have a Merge with me to try it on now, but will try it later tonight.
hey hey, i used CDMA workshop and updated my PRL
theres only one problem.. in the guide i followed it said at the end..
"Exit CDMA workshop and reboot your phone.
Once rebooted open dialer again and enter *983*87274# and this time choose "AT" If you dont usb will not work properly."
when i use *983*87274# nothing happens.
this person also used *983*87274# in the beginning of the guide too.. since i couldnt use it i used ##3424# to start the process but ##3424# wont let me choose "AT" at the end like the author says..

any ideas?
Since you used ##3424# you don't need to worry about selecting "AT" at the end. You should be good to go.
Question for you, did USCC give you the MSL or did you use something to find it?
"This program reads your Master Subsidy Lock (MSL) code for your CDMA Android phone. It requires root to read this code.
This application will only work on HTC CDMA devices like the Hero, EVO and Incredible."
I just got a T-Mobile activation kit (sim card) for $2.99+ free shipping and started using my US Cellular Merge with T-Mobile.. whooohooo!
Thanks for all help, ill update if i try any other carriers.
Thats funny as I just got the same T-Mobile kit. I am doing the $1 per day option for only the days I use it (or someone sends me a text from the number someone else had)
