    Question Motorola EX124G Annoyances/Issues

Hello. I have a Motorola EX124G and have some concerns and also noticed some issues with it. I know every phone has it's quirks, but I would greatly appreciate knowing if there is a solution, even a temporary fix, a mod, or no solution at all for any of these. Are these commonly known issues? Thank you in advance. (FYI - my service provider is StraightTalk)

    1. Can the home/main screen be customized (remove "Home" and the scrolling information)?

    2. Someone posted a comment somewhere saying "absolute piece of junk. touchscreen function went out 6 weeks after i bought it. everything else works but the touchscreen and thats what u have to use to do anything. buyer beware." Is this something common?? Will using the stylus more help avoid something like this?

    3. Is there a tracker app available that would work with this phone? I want to be tracked on occasion.

    4. Huge annoyance! Finding the apostrophe! It takes from 3 to 4 clicks just to input an apostrophe. What appears to be left and right single quote keys in "ES" and "es" input mode do not work at all. Click them and nothing happens. They are useless.

    5. Other keys that do not work: ' ^ - ~ in "Es" and "es" mode. Click them and nothing happens. They are useless. The ' and ~ keys are not even available in "Abc" mode.

    6. Old texts are not deleted automatically and have to be deleted manually else the memory gets full and no new messages can be received.

    7. There seems to be no way to "lock" or locally save specific messages, so deleting, but saving that one or two special texts, means either deleting all other texts one by one (tedious!) or delete all (lose everything!).

    8. Texts are not grouped by conversation or contact, making it difficult, if not impossible, to keep track of a dialogue with someone. Sent messages are totally separate and not attached to the received message to which it is a reply.

    9. Gravity or "shaking" doesn't seem to activate the "Touch Screen-Gravity Sensor/ Tilt & Shake" feature well. It will get stuck in one directional mode or the other at any given time.

    10. I'm still not clear on ringtones. I created one, tried to MMS it to my phone, but it was rejected (failed, but still charged me data and text!). I sent it to someone's Android phone and they Bluetoothed it to me. It is a basic 45 second 64 bitrate mp3 file. Being pointed to a good link for ringtone format & upload info would be highly appreciated.

    11. I set all Ring Style / Tone Settings to my custom ringtone, yet calls from certain numbers played that weird "Helloooo, Moto" ringtone instead. The calls came from contacts, but I had not edited their ringtones at all. To "fix" this issue, I have manually set every contact's ringtone to my custom ringtone. I'll have to remember to do this for everyone I add unless there is some fix.

    12. Is there a shortcut to text message templates anywhere? Getting to any template involves 6 clicks (or more if it's scrolled below the viewport) whereas just going to Compose is only 2 clicks. I'd really like to use the templates feature.

    13. Is it correct that there is no dictionary or auto-correct anywhere on this phone?

    14. To install a jar file, I ended up putting the file into my public Dropbox folder, going to my Dropbox online, grabbing the public URL, then browsing to it via my mobile browser. Does that sound about right? And can I now move/delete that jar file from my Dropbox folder safely?

Thank you for any assistance provided!

Just saw your post. Copy it over with Tracfone/Net10/Straight-talk forum and you'll probably get more response.
I have been using this phone on Tracfone since last August, so I'll address a couple of the items above:
#2, After 4 months, I never had a problem with the screen. I do use the stylus when texting with the phone. For me, it's just faster.
#9, The gravity auto-rotate works fine with my phone most of the time, sometimes I do have to tape it a few times or rotate back and forth.
Most of your other observations above are what I have experienced as well. It isn't a "smart" phone, it's just a phone that allows for easier texting than flip phones and some basic internet searching.
