Hmm, to say ST is the "better" choice over RP may be jumping the gun a little... Don't get me wrong, they've got the prices at a sweet spot for sure! But I think a lot more is involved besides just price. The freedom to use my phone (and data) that I've paid for is worth so much more to ME than price! As far as cs goes, well, that depends on who you get on what day and what mood they are in. To this day some of the worst cs I've ever gotten was from a postpaid provider (T-Mo). And honestly, the BEST was from my very last conversation on the phone with H2O! Yea, I said it... H2O! In fact, I told the guy I spoke with that if most of my cs was like it was with him I wouldn't be leaving.

As far as coverage is concerned, no provider anywhere has got it perfect so that's area dependent IMO. And speed? Not really a big difference (on a phone) in real life use between 7mbs and 3mbs. The .2 times faster your YouTube video loads won't hardly make a difference to you. Oh wait... ST says you can't watch YouTube with their service, my bad. RP let's me use my data however I want within my 250mb/2gb limit that I get. I can ever tether! But I'm just saying

So yea, I don't think ST has the better "overall" service between the two simply because of price. To be able to pick up my phone and use it when and how I want to is a far better experience for me!

If you got a # from them and you don't mind losing it, you can carry on using it until they cut you off and then dispute the charges on your credit card...
The "only" risk? LOL. Sounds like a mighty big risk, especially if it is your primary phone!

Sounds like the high cost of a low price to me.

I get this on ST Jacksonville, FL. You can use 2GB a month and they won't bother you. I think it's a better deal. You can buy a ST sim for $15 at www.straighttalksim.com right now. I get these speeds

It becomes a personal choice. Both are byod, both offer Att options (RP is Att only). ST costs more upfront and you have to wait. RP, the sims are cheaper but you pay more in the long run. CS, RP is a little better. RP offers free international minutes wheras ST does not. For someone who needs a byod NOW, a local RP dealer can help plus they have more flexibility of plans. ST has one plan. A great one, but still one. It becomes a personal choice more then who's right and who's wrong...

I'd wait a bit and make sure the current users have no run ins with the ST data police.

I don't care what they claim, we all know there is a hidden cap that I could not find in writing on the website.

At least with RP you know it's 2GB. Use it all in a day, a week or a month.

Very true, or rollover your data and let it add up. I'm curious to see in a few days if I get to the 5GB rollover as right now I have 3.4GB remaining and a few days to add the refill.

My feelings and thoughts EXACTLY. If I happen to be out on a trip one weekend and use 150MB in a day (GASP!) I don't want ST data police shutting me down or bothering me for "excessive usage". Seems like too much risk to save a few bucks. Just my thoughts so far. (Activated a Red Pocket line on my spare iPhone 4S today for testing...so far, so good.)

I am with simple and quite happy with it. I was wondering that if red pocket or straight talk both have 4g data or not. If not i wont even think of switching...... :-)

Its 4g as in reaching faster 3g speeds in those areas that offer "4g" speeds. It all depends on your area and coverage. For me i get anywhere from 3-7mb down 1-2mb up with red pocket. But tmobile did just upgrade my area with 21mb and 42mbs 4g speeds! Of course i wont get that but to acheive the same speeds as i get with red pocket and get the coverage as i do with red pocket, the 30 t-mobile plan sounds good right about now reguardless of red pocket data rollover! I mostly text anyway.

That's why g-d invented Google Voice.

The trade-offs of ST versus RP appear to be the following:

ST provides better coverage than RP because it includes off-AT&T roaming.

ST forbids tethering, RP does not forbid tethering.

ST forbids streaming audio or video, RP does not forbid streaming audio or video.

RP has a hard 2GB limit, which you can use without restriction. ST has a soft data limit which varies according to some undisclosed formula, but 2GB appears to be safe, and many users report going well over 2GB. The ambiguous data limit can be annoying.

ST costs $42-45 per month, RP costs $56-60 per month.

I want to try st but what with the sim swap. Or T-Mobile sim or att sim. I though we will just have to buy St sim. I am confused. I want to use att smart phone.

So basically whatever phone you have. We shall buy T-Mobile or att depends on that. So St provides both att and T-Mobile coverage?
