Silly question, I have a Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200 that isn't being used. Would it be possible to put this on prepaid? I know several people who have prepaid data cards but these are usb sticks they got from WalMart so I wasn't sure if prepaid data was exclusive to WalMart or if any data device could be on prepaid. I just need the data for a few months and was hoping I could use the MiFi instead of having to buy a new card.
Yes, you can use that device on the same plans as USB sticks. It has to be Verizon branded and a former postpaid one should be OK. There is no exclusive Walmart deal with Verizon.
The prepaid plans are in the center of this page: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/p...obileBroadband
Bringing your own device you could also subscribe to the $50 / 5GB or $80 / 10GB postpaid plans at the top of the page month to month with no ETF. There may be an activation fee though and you would have to pass a credit check.
There also may still be third parties buying service wholesale from Verizon and activating them at a lower rate. That market is constantly changing and I haven't kept up with it.
Unfortunately, there aren't too many Verizon prepaid broadband mvnos /resellers right now it seems. I checked out Fry's offer of 5gb for $50 but it doesn't seem to exist anymore. Most of the other "unlimited" or cdma byod carriers I see are usually Sprint based, not Verizon (Millenicom, etc). Most Verizon clean esn cdma broadband devices whether modems or mifis should be usable as long as it's 3g only. 4G ones aren't allowed I believe.
