Assuming you're talking about a factory unlocked post 2011 docomo device, then no, you won't lose your unlock. I did a factory data reset a number of times on my SH-12C and it was never relocked. Remember, the factory data reset option in Android doesn't touch the OS, it only clears the users' data.
Not sure about soft unlocked devices like older Samsungs and older Toshibas though.
I didn't mean anything except that I posted before coming to my senses that I read this "fact" on a social network without checking or thinking beforehand... ie I did a factory reset myself on my own SH-13C some time after unlocking it, IIRC......

Also, the post where I got that info from, I guess it was dealing with a Galaxy Nexus. So things may be a bit different with that phone compared to the Japan-made Androids.

But is it true (factory resetting a docomo GN result in losing the unlock)?
Different filesystems for different phones so even if it were true for the GN I'd be surprised if it carried over to other devices.

then how about saving the unlock information from /data on your SD card, then when you factory reset/wipe the phone just copy the content from the SD to /data in the phone, reboot and theoretically you should get unlock again?? oh well seems like too easy to be true haha (of course if we are talking about an Android keitai)
We lose as much as we gain through life, and that includes who we used to be.
Yup for the Galaxy Nexus, seems that a backup and restore of /data should be enough to restore the lock. Doesn't apply to other Android phones on DoCoMo though. And you still need to unlock it the first time, with a code (obtained from DoCoMo) generated from the IMEI.
