Yes this is the same $ can buy IP-RAN stuff that T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T and every other carrier is running in their upgraded 4G areas with fiber back-haul with the EPC (Evolved Packet Core)...
Comments seems from a NV Builder on one of the sites above seems that Sprint will be competing on quality soon, unlimited data will only last a while on the existing unlimited data only on device services (any data on tethering/laptop/other computing device usage will be caped).
And yes they are real from a technical perspective it seems...
LOL did someone just violate their NDA by giving the test LTE hotspot to someone else!?
This tech. industry runs in circles... Especially the other stuff on the youtube video of the poster (redtube!?) LOL...
When you are the only user on a LTE network those speeds arnt all that crazy. Testers on both AT&T and VZW's prelaunch LTE networks saw similar speeds.
I know there are still people who hit 70mbps on Verizon's LTE even today with millions of people using the network... but I have never seen someone ping that low on any type of cellular connection. MAYBE 40ms but that's rare....
I'm quite interested at how Sprint's LTE will perform once they launch it in my home market of Houston. I'm also curious about this EVDO Rev B. Verizon is still using Rev A with no plans to upgrade to B, right? The rumored speed benefits of B sound drool-worthy to me, almost like HSPA/HSPA+ speeds with T-Mobile and ATT going up to at least 5mb/s down!
Do you guys think Sprint will finally ditch unlimited data once they launch LTE and EVDO Rev B? If they still keep it, I may ditch Verizon and my grandfathered unlimited plan with them. I'd rather support a less evil carrier that doesn't lock their bootloaders, block Google Wallet on their Galaxy Nexus, have full, native support for Google Voice, etc.
As far as I knew, neither Sprint or Verizon were going to bother with EVDO Rev. B in order to instead invest in LTE. As an iPhone user, I'd be thrilled to see EVDO Rev. B because in addition to faster speeds, it allows simultaneous data & voice that we've all envied GSM networks. I'm tired of AT&T (and I'm a former iPhone customer of theirs) and their commercials about "Only our network lets you talk and surf on your iPhone".
