Ya, you can't buy a CDMA phone anymore. And the only way to get one from Telus, is to call them.
They have a stockpile right now, of CDMA phones like the LG Banter and such, specifically for people who do not have HSPA service.
I wonder if since they have completely removed it from the MB page as well, if that means the towers along the highway are being lit up now. That would be awesome news.
I have just acquired an Optimus 3G - hopefully CDMA coverage will still continue for a while.
Until they took the CDMA phones off the website they were still selling them online, and I haven't been to a dealer for a while. (Only TELUS dealer I'll go to is a mall in south Calgary. BEST. SERVICE. EVER.) But at least most of them were all signed up as 3 year contracts. So those nets will be up for a guaranteed 3+ years. As well with all those who don't have access to HSPA yet. Another question. Has Sasktel stopped selling CDMA phones? As I know a lot of crazy riders who travel back and forth and have old Sasktel CDMA phones that roam on TELUS.
Just got a few Moto V750's ordered off ebay in order to work in rural Manitoba for work... I wish Telus would sell some new motorolas, they've always been my fav.
Anyways, I know where we're at there's absolutely zero service in MB with HSPA devices still, yet they can roam on CDMA just fine.
They should either expand their 3G better or keep the CDMA back on. Up north CDMA is all that's there. Just wish the Samsung Rugby was CDMA..
Agreed. I tried to pickup a cdma device from them as a pay as you go for when I travel to Rankin Inlet, or Iqaluit. There you can only pickup CDMA. The Telus rep told me I was out of luck she didn't have cdma devices to sell me.

HSPA devices can work on CDMA too? Which ones? Or I am not reading it right?

Nope. In theory it would be possible with a device such as the iPhone 4s which has both HSPA and CDMA radios in it, but you're not going to find a carrier that will let you run both.
