This was after employees were lied to in 2010/2011 in a memo that their jobs would be safe and they were moving some volume to the Philippines.

Bell's excuses here are bogus. They don't need to move jobs to Vancouver or Montreal in order to expand hours or to have more bilingualism. Both are readily available in Ontario. More than likely this allows them to trim long time employees making more than the new hires they will bring in. Instant profits.

Yah I'm sure you're just relocating jobs for better multilingual service. By multilingual you mean barely understandable English in a thick Indian accent correct?

I Just switched our home phone, the last service I had with Bell besides the contract cell phone, over to Rogers. Bell has been steadily losing my business for some time now, it started with the TV, then the internet, now my home phone. They've got some horrible business practices, it's astonishing how badly Bell Canada really hates Canadian workers.
    My Plan
    -150 Minutes
    -Unlimited Texts
    -6pm Evenings
    -6GB Data

    Total $60

Bell is going for a really low labor cost to get more profit money for themselves.

Imagine, 1 call agent only gets $10 after an 8 hours work shift a day, but in fairness filipinos have great english communication skills and for sure doesnt have the "thank you come again" accent. they eat english for breakfast.

On the wireline side, Bell is losing tens of thousands home phone and DSL customers to cable companies. To stem the tide, they realized they need to bundle wireline TV service to compete with cable companies.

The wireline TV service is delivered using Internet Protocol (IP). The architecture uses much less bandwidth as channels are requested as opposed to being streamed down the pipe all at once, as is the case with cable architecture.

Still, the bandwidth required means Bell has to upgrade to FTTN (Fiber to the Node), which requires a lot of capex.

Bell is using profits from the wireless service for upgrades to wireline service. If they can cut costs, those savings will go toward upgrading the deteroriating wireline business.

Other non customer-facing transactions are also taking longer now as a result of these changes. Processes that used to require 2-5 days now require 5-10 days, and transactions that were usually completed in 30min - 2 hours (despite 24hours being the official time) are now actually taking 24 hours.

These layoffs were necessary for Bell to remain competitive.

I mean, their revenue per employee ratio is so low compared to competitors like Rogers.

Between the terrible wireless data service I receive, the high price and now this... I cannot wait to get rid of Bell when my contract is up.
