Can the Samsung S2 LTE SGH-i727R be used on Fido? Unlocking possible?

Will it work on Fido without being unlocked? Or does it have to be unlocked? Is rooting the same as unlocking?

And how the hell do I unlock it? I haven't found any threads on XDA covering this.

Kevin at Bongo is overpriced and $25 is way too much for a Rogers code. But yes once unlocked it'll work!

it will work but you wont get LTE speeds. HSPA+ is all that you will get on FIDO!

Ok so LTE is only available for Rogers subscribers? Can someone confirm this?
