I just received a trade offer; my nexus S for an Evo 3D, straight up. Is this a good trade, taking into consideration stuff like better updates with the nexus but dual core with the evo, etc.?
I have an evo 3d and my girlfriend has a nexus s. Unless you play the more graphicly advanced game it won't make enough of a difference. The nexus s runs stock gingerbread as well as the evo 3d runs sense with dual cores. After that it is personal preference

I own both so let me give you some advice.
If you like stock Gingerbread and direct to Google updates, as well as the Super AMOLED screen, keep the Nexus S. (Note, SLCD is used on the Nexus S if you're in the Asia to Middle East region.)
Otherwise, its really not match to the EVO 3D. Everything feels like its flying on the EVO 3D. It feels fast, and the screen is both bigger and sharper than the Nexus S. Even I seem to get better battery life out of the EVO 3D over the Nexus S. HTC Sense is very functional. You can do a lot of it, and it is its own apps system. You can save yourself a lot of apps with HTC Sense.
Having said that, it might not be your bag. Both phones really have a much different taste with each other, and you might not like Sense at all. HTC phones are something either you are going to like very much, or hate very much. The Nexus S always feels like a safe choice, and the phone just works.
If you're feeling the yearn to have some change, you're bored, you want to upgrade or try new things, well maybe you might like the EVO 3D. But if you're already happy with the Nexus S, feels like a solid and reliable companion for you, then maybe you should keep it.
The EVO 3D is a better overall piece of hardware, if you're not afraid of rooting pick it up and put an optimized version of AOSP on there. I've always enjoyed HTC phones.
