First I was thinking not to post pointing out Rogers UNETHICAL business practice. But then i thought, if i don't try protest as a consumer , i have no right to whine about it. Anyway here are my thoughts:
Recently, Rogers decided to make their new 6gb plan compatible with LTE which is totally fine, for that i give kuddos to them. The problem is when you call them to switch from old 6 gb plan to new 6 gb plan with LTE ready, agents are pro-actively renewing the customers on a three year data(term) unless you specifically SPELL it out for them - K E E P T H E D A T A P L A N O N A O R G I N A L T E R M. Ok finally, agents will get it, put it back on a original term, then consumer have a bigger problem when data plans are switched from old 6gb to new 6gb LTE ready, data credits will be kicked out from the system. Then consumers make a third call, to have the original credit related to data plan to put on as - data plan itself is put on a original term as you are simply (switching from old 6gb plan to new 6gb plan lte ready)...agents will refuse and say- plan is already too enrich, issue gets un-necessary eslcated to ops- where original term discount may or may not be honored. Most Consumers, will not hassle themselves to go through pain-staking process of escalating the issue and just suck up despite of rogers system fault.
This is totally dirty unfair business practice rogers is currently engaging in, and consumers should be aware.
Two biggest issue here with consumers who is willing to pay full price for lte smartphone/lte sim but cannot because of company bureaucratic process on 6gb plan lte ready and incompetent system who would kick off the data credits even despite going from old 6gb to new 6gb lte plan with *SAME PRICE*
- Once consumer data plan is switched from old 6gb to new 6gb plan LTE ready and put on a *ORIGINAL TERM*, discounts shouldn't fall off as its based on original term - it just shows either rogers have incompetent system or rogers strategically want to increase their ARPU by conveniently not honoring the contract or original term?
- Consumer shouldn't have to renew on three term, if they are switching from old 6gb plan with same price to new 6gb plan(LTE READY) with same price. At least that's not the policy, then why agents are not following the rogers policy and playing old tricks? commission? increase save rate? or rogers old dirty tricks- locking consumers unnecessary on a three year term?
Possible solution: I don't know why they making things complicated for themselves (getting legal suits for this) and for consumers...just release APNCON type soc code (which gives user's access to blackberry infrastructure using normal data) for consumers who are sitting on old 6gb plan, so that they can get access and take advantage of LTE network. Old consumers should not have to change their plan or term or sacrifice data discounts based on a original term to take advantage of new LTE network.
I want to make consumers aware of this dirty practice and don't want band aid fix from Rogers- i.e- settle things out of spotlight by just putting band aid fix on a individual account but permanent fix.
So please join me and make others aware as well, feel free to post this on your blogs, social network regarding dirty business trick rogers are engaging into.

Below explanation totally resembles your post...Thanks for your useless post.
b4tl , ib4tl meaning , definition of ib4tl , what is ib4tl - IB4TL is an acronym meaning "In Before The Lock." It's a 'game', of sorts, that people play in Internet discussion groups. You will see this acronym used on web boards, blogs, forums, et cetera. Using it sparingly is a good strategy for boosting your post count. When you KNOW a discussion is about to be locked, you can throw a quick 'IB4TL' reply in there, and get credited as if it were a normal post, even though it is basically a useless, one-word observation. While this is a dishonest tactic, it is generally acceptable to most moderators and admins, and the message is left to stand, as-is, towards your overall post count. High post counts are a status symbol on many sites. The gamble is, if the thread isn't locked, it makes YOU look like a fool - a poor judge of character. Sometimes a moderator or admin will leave a discussion open, that would otherwise be locked, just to make YOU look silly. As I said, it's a 'game'...
Some examples : Troll: hi just wanna to tell everone hear u suckMember: Then why are you here?Troll: cuz yall suxMember#2: Can we knock it off, please?Troll: i like to knock u offMember: IB4TL!Member#2: LoL! IB4TLTroll: waz tha mean u gay or sumpinModerator: That does it! I'm locking this thread. Troll, clean up your act or you'll be banned!
Hmm.. thanks for the post... I didn't realize there were so many complications switching to the new 6gb lte data.... seems like all those issues would affect me :S
The big issue here is that data is data. Since they've made the rates for data the same on both LTE and HSPA, there's no reason that ANYONE on a data plan shouldn't have access to the LTE network if they have an LTE device.
In my case, they're refusing to allow me to use BlackBerry data on an LTE plan. I have two phones and would like to switch between them and they are not allowing this as an option for me..
Just called in yesterday to adjust my plan 6gb yo LTE. They did it and sent me an email that I renewed on 36 more Months .Will call back about it tomorrow also the took away 10$ data credit but care never mention nothing.

My friend was auto renewed when switching to LTE version as well.
Soultrader/WorldIrc, Thanks for your post... it just further reconfirms their dirty practice. Thanks for posting on this thread for keeping an trail. Hopefully, someone from rogers can comment and provide clarification. This is totally unfair. I remember those days when rogers first announced lame iphone data offers..there was a huge outrage...this is by far, worst than lame iphone data plans offers they came with in the past, atleast however lame offer was, atleast they did it properly instead of playing dirty little trick like they are getting away with this 6gb lte crap...this current practice is new quite low of them. Hopefully, consumers will realize it and push them to stop this dirty unethical business practice.
We will see what happens when I call em back tomorrow.Hopefully they open.

Why do people willingly do business with such a disreputable company?
Can any of you say that you are surprised by the tactic, honestly? But you knew that already... so why...
Agents aren't proactively making the change, the system does it, you just have to polite and courteous and have the reps correct it.
I did that when I switched to LTE and had no problems, now my contract on the data is over since it expired a week or two after I made the switch.
Any credit on the account applies to your original plan, exactly as you had it when you got the credit. If you make a change to that plan, you can't expect to keep the credits and benefit from the new plans. That's just double dipping, pick 1 or the other and stop whining.
Well it's not really a change of data price/amount per say, its switching from one 6gb data ($30) to another 6gb data with LTE ready ($30). And its not double dipping, rogers customer have right to take advantage of enhanced network regardless if they are sitting on old 6gb data or new 6gb data. As someone said, data is data. This is not same scenario as tdma network migration to gsm network migration rogers had years ago where customers sitting on TDMA network cannot use gsm, that was understandable...the fact that lte is not change of technology sprectrum itself but rather an upgrade of existing hspa+ network and backwards compatible with hspa, one shouldn't have to change data plan itself to take advantage of LTE period...all this is UNETHICAL business practice..no wonder they are getting away with this when you have spineless ex rogers, bell, telus employee lobyist working at CRTC.

i am always polite to the agent, its only when my friend brags about his data commissions he makes a month which makes me wonder, if they follow right business practise or more worried about their bonus, score cards(save targets and sale targets).
