So I borrowed my friends 3G and wanted to unlock it and jailbreak it because it's with fido and I'm with rogers.
Stupidly I didn't read the instructions first on how to do it and I just restored the phone to the most recent update.
My friend said that means I got the most recent baseband which is a bad thing cause I can't unlock it but I'm still struggling to even try to jailbreak it.
I keep getting some error 1015
can anyone help/ give input about the unlocking and jailbreaking.
If you commonly type the name iPhone as "Iphone" or "I-Phone"... or if you commonly refer to an iPod Touch as an "iTouch" or "I-Touch"...... Then you deserve whole bottle of habanero hot sauce poured into your eyes!
Yes, the ipad baseband might make the phone unstable and you will probably lose your GPS as well. They are the risks of using it but on the other hand it is your only option for an unlock on your phone.
If you use the iPad baseband the only risk is like Iliumymac states you may lose gps functionality
Use redsnow and download your ipsw from felixbruns be sure to check the box that says add ipad baseband
if you are using 3g and not 3gs and you are on 4.2.1 you should download redsn0w 0.9.6b5
after this do not restore from itunes or you will end up in recovery mode and this is more complicated but also easily done
many people come to my shop to get out of recovery mode , even many that have jailbroken and unlocked themselves. don't be daunted as this process is easy enough for the average modder
any more help needed let me know
you cannot downgrade the modem firmware at the moment
you can downgrade to 4.1 which you would have to if after jailbreak and unlock you accidentally restore in itunes.
@vancouverunlock, I did not know we could advertise in this section of the forum, am I correct in this thinking?
