1.7 Million additional losses and yet another 2 Million plus additional losses within 12-24 months.
You can clearly see that Boost is a Sprint product and verifies that the apple does not fall far from the tree.
Sprint after all knows all about subscriber loses. It's time to get free from poor performing service brands and Virgin Mobile is Sprint's best performing brand each and every quarter no need to continue with loss leaders like Boost mobile.
Please, don't cherry pick the parts you reply to and ignore other parts that you have no answer.
There are 2 million prepaid IDEN customers left, where they will end up is anyone's guess and I do hope they remain in the Sprint family be it Boost Mobile or Virgin.
We very well may be reaching the point of those that are on IDEN are there because they need to be and will not leave till the last switch is turned off. PTT CDMA is getting good reviews and Sprint did indicate there will be a PTT device offered on Boost. Why they are waiting till the 11th hour to make it available can only be described as typical Sprint culture.
Sprint reports IDEN subscriber losses on Boost Mobile. Yet, it reported total prepaid gains in general.
As Yeswap understands, you can't find me one slither of information to clarify what prepaid brand did the best. It very well be the Assurance brand for the financially depressed which is sad but it was mentioned that Boost additions helped keep the ARPU from falling badly.
Here's part of the report in case you missed it:
"Prepaid ARPU of $26.62 (pretty sad huh?)for the quarter declined from $27.95 in the fourth quarter of 2010 and from $27.19 in the third quarter of 2011. The decline in both year-over-year and sequential periods is a result of a greater mix of Assurance Wireless customers who on average have lower ARPU (like about 10.00 a month)than the remainder of our prepaid subscriber base, partially offset by improvements in Boost ARPU. "
Hello everyone,
I've taken some time to read over this thread it seem's very interesting to read what others thoughts are. I've been a Virgin Mobile user for quite a few years, but I've also decided myself to jump ship to boost mobile for a couple reasons. Over the weekend my Motorola Triumph broke, I can't get a replacement for my phone because it's rooted, I was dumb enough to tell them that on customer care and they said no way! I don't mind though because I've had a lot of issues with my Triumph although I love a lot of things about the phone. There are some things that are leading me to Boost Mobile, I need a unlimited plan and I am currently paying VM 55 dollars a month for unlimited so I think it's a much better to make the move where you are able to take advantage of shrinkage. Also the 25 dollar refer offer is appealing to me also. The phone line up is much better I'm considering the ZTE Warp. Anyway I am not saying Virgin or Boost is the best I like both services but for me I think I'm making the right move. What are your thoughts?? Take care and enjoy the week.
Cell phone geek girl yes I have alot of phones!!!

I don't see any good reason to be on Virgin Mobile for the unlimited plan.
It would be different if they had the better devices but they do not.
OK, so here's a BIG reason to stick with Virgin Mobile instead of going to Boost.
My Marquee has a problem with the camera where the white balance is off, so I called to get a replacement. Virgin Mobile will gladly send you a replacement phone with a box to send back the defective one. So you're not out of pocket and you get continuous service. Boost does not provide this service, and they just refer you to the manufacturer. In the case of LG you have to ship the device at your cost to their repair center in Texas, and 7 days later they will ship you a refurb (if all goes well). In the meantime you are without a phone. At best Boost will offer to suspend your account while you are without a phone - but that is not very useful. Really for Boost you should probably count on owning 2 phones, a primary and a backup, so you can deal with warranty issues on your device.
So this is an area where Boost really is a bargain basement liquor store end cap zero customer perks carrier. For a $280 device, I would have hoped for better.

Interesting that VM will send a replacement on your word you will ship back the other one.
If you bought your phone at a major retailer like Wal-Mart you have a liberal return policy.

I'm not sure, but don't they just cut off your service if they don't receive the phone that you're supposed to send back?
I remember some people getting frustrated b/c VM claims that they never received the replacement phone that people sent back in.

They will, but if you have two phones and ESN modifying capabilities, that could be used for evil. Because the Motorola Triumph would go so far on somebody else's network

If you fail to return the "defective" device, they will cancel your service and blacklist the devices. That is extremely rare, but they can do that. VM sends numerous texts, emails, and phone calls/message reminders to return the defective device before any adverse actions are initiated. It is a service feature VM provides to it's subscribers, Sprint should be providing this to contract subs as well.

P R E P A I D is just another way to offer (and pay for) premium services and devices.

I will be joining you. The Warp has been looking real good for the last few months. I am finally ready to take the plunge.

It will be a great move for you. If Unlimited minutes are what you need, then the shrinkage plan would be something not worth missing out on. That's the best feature of prepaid service, you can switch your service provider at anytime to one that best meets your needs and/or wants, without penalties.
(you can still call CS again and have them replace your triumph, maybe it was a bad connection and they misunderstood your original reason for calling ~ those things happen with some language barriers / interpretations)

Since Boost and VM are owned by the same company and run off the same network, I would be surprised if there's a world of difference on things like reliability and quality. Perhaps the customer service is a noticeably different experience (as your post indicates) but most other things would not be.
If Boost is simply offering better devices, I have to wonder why Sprint is neglecting to do the same with VM. At best, they're simply robbing Peter to pay Paul by leading customers to Boost. The money all goes into the same coffers. At worst, they could be sending customers into the arms of brands like Straight Talk, Net 10, or T-Mobile.
It doesn't make sense that Boost would be purposefully made better than VM by its parent company, since they share the same lineage. Then again, having two competing pre-paid brands doesn't make sense either...so who knows?

Well, If i owned sprint, I would prefer to have more customers on boost instead of VM. boost's plans are 55/month w/ shrinkage. and most people on VM are on 25 or 35/month plan. I would be sneaky and arrange to make it look like VM is getting the optimus black via FCC stuff. and then i would release the OB on boost. and then i would smile when i see people saying 'ugh! i've had it with VM, i'm switching to boost!'.
That's just how i think sprint is planning their strategy right now, kinda stinks for VM.

It takes a long enough time for the shrinkage to get to a competitive level with VM that it's almost like a 2-year contract plan without an ETF on Boost. Even once the price drops to the basement level of $40, we're still looking at hundreds of dollars spent over the course of the (no) contract with Boost. Personally, I'd rather pocket the $300 of savings and use some of it on a new phone every year on VM.
