Can GV be used as free voicemail for those in Canada?
Also, can someone explain in very simple terms how to use GV for free incoming calls if you have a calling circle?
Can you use google's voicemail with your canadian #?
1) GV as VM replacement. Only viable if you have US long distance and Conditional Call Forwarding on your cell line or are willing to incur the associated costs with forwarding to the US on PPU basis.
2) it can't really give you free incoming, using a calling circle or otherwise*. If you have unlimited incoming it can be used for unlimited outbound calling and long distance to US and Canadian numbers.
*if your calling circle can include US numbers you might be able to get unlimited incoming but everyone would have to call your US GV number.

If you have unlimited incoming: how can you use GV for unlimited outbound calling?
Because GV can be configured as a callback service, meaning you 'dial' a number and the GV service calls that number and calls your number and merges the call. From your phone line's point of view you only received an incoming call. Since GV can call any number if Canada or the US for free, then you can use this to make unlimited calls to any US or Canadian number if you have unlimited incoming.
So if I have an calling circle with unlimited minutes, I can add the GV # into my circle and get unlimited outgoing? Or that won't work because GV # is from the US and my calling circle can only be local numbers...
Check with you carrier if your calling circle can include US numbers.
it really doesn't matter as far as incoming calls, because you can't add any Canadian numbers to GV, so no matter what, you won't be able to use it with a CDN phone number..
now, some ppl will chime in and say they have GV with a CDN number from long ago, blah blah, so do I, and then there was a glitch for a while that alowed 403 area code, so ppl were using Freephoneline.ca with a 403 Calgary number and forwarding it,................
....But anyways..... long story short, for now, it can not be done at this time....
