I remember that on the simple mobile site that the 9860 was listed as coming soon. So that would be a tmobile compatible version of it. If simple mobile gets it then I would assume Tmobile would get it too.

They pulled the 9810 off the market after less than 2 months. I didn't see that there were any problems with it. They had it priced much higher than other carriers.
There aren't any new BB models due out til next year!
I would have bought the 9810 had it come with OS7.1. That OS was supposed to be out in Nov. Now it looks like March. (RIM's fault, not TM). One problem was that TM had the 9810 priced at more than double of that of other carriers.

T-Mobile lines on unlimited "family" plan - me, wife. Cost is about $80 a line incl. 5GB/mo. data on each line. We have had no landline in 7 years

Probably, but I wouldn't doubt if T-Mobile skipped it and went to the Curve Touch.

Coverage will expand to 100 million LTE pops for the first half of 2013, with the second half of 2013 expanding to 200 million POPs covered. Release 10 LTE (2×10, 2×20) will be better performing than all other competitors.
T-Mobile USA. “This year, we’re stepping on the gas again. We are making continued coverage improvements and launching an advanced LTE network
Highly doubtful that T-Mobile USA will sell the 9860. If you are interested in that phone, your best bet is to buy it at full price, it's available for about $340, which is a very fair price considering T-Mobile's upgrade fee for Bold 9900 ($350 - $50 mail-in rebate) and full price for Curve 9360 ($300).
Once PCS band refarming reaching your market, you will be able to use 3G/HSDPA+ on any 9860 with T-Mobile.

You don't want to buy a non-TM branded BB. It won't have the TM features like wifi calling.
