Their website still indicates you can't use too many cell minutes or you will be booted, yet all over the web are news and blog pieces claiming they changed that in mid Dec to truly unlimited with no caps on cell or data on the Sprint network. What is true, any users of Republic know?
Motorola Photon, Samsung Nexus S 4G, Nokia N8, LG Optimus V, Palm Pixi+
According to this post, http://www.republicwireless.com/blog/unlimited on the company blog it's truly unlimited at least until the end of beta. With a full refund of the phone price if they end unlimited. However the Beta is still closed to new users with no indication of when it will reopen.
Sprint has nothing to do with this. Sprint isn't supporting RW. RW is paying Sprint for airtime. RW is back-ending all of the calls over VOIP, which reduces their cost of handling voice calls to well under a quarter of a cent.
As time goes by, the cost of airtime will continue to go down. Whether they can afford to do it when they get out of beta depends entirely upon what their average CUI is. Presently, the average CUI is well below 100. RW's estimates were that most people would use a CUI of 100. So, given current usage, RW may well be able to continue unlimited even after the beta ends.
