It's quite a few months from the time its released, to when it gets ported to Telus.
If they even have a roadmap for updating it, we'll have to wait and see. The tech guys won't know any sooner than we do. You would have to know someone in the higher ups that might know something more, but DNA won't know.
Just take the plunge and root it. It is really simple and safe. ICS has already been ported to it. The camera was just fixed this week, but is still a work in progress.
2.3.5 has some good upgrades but ICS is even better. ICS flies on our DHD.
Is HTC Sense 3.0 a juice guzzler? I left home with a near-full charge at 1:55 pm. Commuted for close to 90 minutes (making the trip out to Toronto). My phone already went down to like around half a charge after the commute (I had auto-brightness on and I was using apps and the browser with mobile data). Then I hung out with my friends and barely used my phone (maybe sent a text or two, turned on mobile data for a few minutes to use Facebook, checked Google Maps a bit, made a brief call and a friend of mine borrowed my cell and made a couple brief calls too. And I was already down to the yellow before 9pm. Then when I started my commute back past 1 am, I was down to 20%. So I barely touched my phone on my return trip back to preserve the battery. A bit of texting, a couple of brief calls, some Google Maps). When I got home around 2:30 am, I was down to 9% battery. I noticed in my settings I had background data enabled though. That might have been the culrpit. Looking at the "what's using the battery thing", 48% of it was the display, 17% the dialer, 9% Okcupid (I guess I forgot to log out/shut down that app for good when I stopped using it), 6% phone idle, 6% google maps, 6% cell standby, 6% wi-fi and 2% voice calls. I'm looking into getting one of those third-party 1800 mAh batteries for the DHD. They're like $10. But I don't want my phone blowing up in my pocket or something. Kinda paranoid about third-party Chinese batteries. If anyone here has a good experience with a high-capacity third-party battery for the DHD, let me know.
I was pretty happy to hear of the update a few days after I initially posted. So far I find it faster and smoother. No app conflicts so far. I was thinking about rooting and upgrading to ICS but I couldn't find a good ROM and aren't there issues about needing to downgrade it? Appreciate any answers!
My battery life is unbearably bad after upgrading to HTC sense 3.0. I'm down to 30% battery life today after having a full charge this morning. And I've used this phone for 20-25 mins tops in my commute. And during my lunch break (close to an hour). Is it HTC Sense 3.0? Battery getting weak and time for a replacement? Is the phone itself just an overall juice hog? I set all the auto-sync stuff to off as well. I had brightness on auto. Now I have it off since I don't need it now.

I'm wondering if I'm the only one, but I find this update more unstable. I'm getting alot more spontaneous resets after closing down a few apps. It's not always consistent. It can be tiny Tower, Skype, Kindle app, those are the ones I use the most so I'm not sure if it's a particular app that's conflicting or the update itself. Anyone else have anyother ideas? Should I do a factory reset and re update? Is there anyway to downgrade back to 2.3.3, or sense 2.1?
Do you have any links or instructions to do this. I'm pretty interested? When you mean "ICS has been ported" is this a ROM that mimics ICS or a true ICS platform?

Can you not root a TELUS 2.3.5 HTC Desire HD? I remember reading an older article on Mobile Syrup that HTC released a boot unlocker for the Desire HD but that you needed Android 2.3.5 for it. And this was a problem at the time because owners of the TELUS Desire HD were stuck on 2.3.3. But then I'm hearing stuff about how those who updated to 2.3.5 can't root it? I would like to know because HTC Sense 3.0 is probably the cause of my battery life taking a huge hit. I want to get rid of HTC Sense 3.0 and install ICS to hopefully bring battery life to a reasonable level.
