I was at CES 2012 and hoping to see some 9790's around to play and test out... Nothing, because as the hot rep said: "They are not out in the USA yet.." I was about to tell her... "So what? This is CES... aren't you supposed to show all your upcoming devices?" Anyways... I am wondering when the 9790 will hit the USA carriers, especially, if there are any rumors that its coming to T-Mobile. ???
9900 looks great, but the lack of autofocus is a big drawback to me (another BAD choice by RIM, I mean who cares if the camera part is a little big bigger. I doubt any RIM fans would have complained). I also read that more than some do brick for some unknown reason, and the phone costs quite some dinero too. Getting the 9360, also without autofocus, doesn't sound appealing either...
I sold my 9700 (BAD choice by me this time) to make up cash to get an HTC Amaze 4G. The phone is a beast don't get me wrong, but I personally dislike Android and don't see the big fuss about it (I prefer the iPhone over it any day), and I can't type on screen. I use my cell to primarily call and text and then I use few basic apps, and the 9700 fitted me fine.
I do not know but I went to from a G2 back to a 8900. I could not stand the battery life of the G2. I heard the 9790 is made for developing countries, that can not afford a 9900. So it may not come to any US carriers. You may have to import one from Canada. I can not remember but I think one of the Canadian Carriers uses tmobile 3G. I think the name is Mobilicity. You could check if they sell the 9790 and unlock it to use on Tmobile.
I checked the Canadian carriers that support the same freq T-Mo does and none carry the 9790... I am thinking of getting a 9780 for now until BB10 comes out, as they speculate, in April 2012. I don't see the point shelling out 300 plus dollars for say a 9360 when the newer phones might come out in few months. I can always use the 9780 as back up anyways...
