Need Advice/input 6 mos left on contract am i at disadvantage to negotiate 3yr 4s?
In need of a new phone and wanted the 4s since i have $200 in Fido dollars laying around. i am in the 6 month window before the end of my term. Ill try to lay out my questions as simple as possible.
my current plan:
epp 17.50
all the usual, call display, iphone pack, unl text, 300 min/month , $30 6gb + bunch of credits ibargained for.
$52/month after taxes
QUESTION 1: Is it true i cannot keep this plan on a new renewal?
Question 2: Am i able to add something like picture messaging or long distace 100 mins to the plan to bring it over $50 pre tax and keep the plan on a renewal?
I spoke to retentions briefly today (45 mins) and felt he wasnt offering me anything special over the website prices. I dont recall what the minimum plan needs to be to renew which means I would lose myplan which i thought was pretty good.
If your base voice plan and data option were added and unchanged before Dec 2010, you can keep them and HUP to the iPhone, but you need to do the order through retentions. However, any credits you have on the data or voice plan are going to be removed.
Carrier unlocked iPhone 4
Unlimited airtime, Unlimited CAN/US long distance, Unlimited SMS to CAN/US wireless numbers
2500 Call Forwarding minutes to CAN/US numbers
CiD, 6GB
Google Voice for visual voice mail with message transcription, conditional greetings, unlimited messages (vs 35 message cap), remote retrieval from any PC or phone, no auto-purge after 10 days and most importantly no $7-$8 charge.
interesting... Not sure how they can do this for you.
When i HUP'd last year, they 'switched the plan' to a 25$ plan for a few mins. to complete the form and let the system proceed with the upgrade, then switched it back again to my EPP.
I have pretty much the same plan as you [see sig]. My reasoning that got them to do it, was that i was a consumer for over 2.5yrs [at the time], i had a value pack & a 6gb plan as well, so why would i pay more when i could've jumped ship to the Rogers gov't plan at 17.30 with 50 more mins, and CID/VM/125 text included...

Last year or before Dec 2010? Prior to Dec 2010, the common work around was to bump $17.50 plan holders to $25, do the HUP and then drop them back. But with the policies and rules introduced in Dec 2010, the last step, of dropping the plan back to $17.50 would auto-trigger DECF since a plan of $25 or more is required to be allowed to have the 6GB data option. IIRC from BL, retentions can still do a manual override of the system for customers with the $17.50 (and hence a total below $50) to allow a HUP, but on retentions.
