How do the updates for the Galaxy Nexus work? Do they still have to go through Telus after Google before I will get them. My phone has Android 4.0.1, but I know there is at least an update to 4.0.2 from Google, but the phone says it is up to date.
On my old Desire, the updates went Google -> HTC -> Telus ->maybe to me if Telus wanted to. That frustrated me so I finally put a custom rom on that phone... and 6 months later bought a Galaxy Nexus.
Because we have a regional build of the phone we won't get it first, usually a few weeks after. But no, the updates do not come from Telus. They come from Google.
We have the same version as AT&T. There is no regional version for Canada.
AT&T has not yet released a Galaxy Nexus ... ? Our firmware build is yakjuux, which seems to be the build on all Canadian GNex phones. My guess is Google uses the different builds to stagger the OTA update releases.
I believe the Canadian galaxy nexus phones get their updates through the carrier/samsung and not directly from Google. I flashed my rogers nexus with another firmware and received 4.0.2 five minutes later.
Here is an app that will tell you where you get your updates from.

Correct. The firmware on the Telus is the yakjuux which is packaged and sent out by Samsung/Telus not Google. I'm tempted to switch my firmware out for more timely updates since 4.0.3 is due out for everyone and Google is calling it their 'base firmware'.

Folks,
The biggest issue to me is the bootloader in the regional / carrier specific builds like many of us have in North America. I am reluctant to go custom or AOSP builds because I cannot get a hold on the stock bootloader image, PRIMEKKI4. There is no way back if I decide to go with the newer builds in different path.

So i can flash a stock rom of yakju? I don't want any custom roms only the original like when you get the phone brand new... Is that possible? If yes can i do it with the link you provided? Thank you in advance!
I thought stock Nexus builds where supposed to simplify Android builds/firmwares ... its just as confusing now as when S60 was in its prime!
- I guess this'll never change?
It is stock as stock can be at 4.0.2. This will allow you to receive ICS OTA updates from Google.
Probably a good idea to let OP know that this wipes the device, and voids the warranty. I've held off on rooting my device and going with the Google build but version 4.0.4 just got officially announced and we're still on 4.0.1. Unless Samsung was holding off on a more recent build to push, but I'd appreciate more timely updates.
