What happens if my gophone account is cancelled? Can I re-activate with the same SIM?

i use the gophone for my us travels (im in canada). but i noticed that my account will be auto - cancelled on Mar 1, 2012 due to inactivity. so once it is cancelled, is everything gone including the SIM card?

can i re-activate the account? with the same SIM or must get new SIM again?

    thanks,

From what I have read you have to pick up another sim card and activate another account....They are only a couple of bucks on Ebay

Once last yr a CS agent was able to retrieve my cancelled number for me 3 wks after the acct exp and I was able to use the same SIM. Not saying that is common though.

I tried to re-activate after it was deactivated for a few months and it was a no-go. I didn't really expect they would. My next trip to the US is with a family group and we will have 3-5 unlocked phones between us. I will have to get a few new ones anyway, so not a big deal about my own SIM being dead.

Why not reload the account right now to extend the expiration and cancel date?
If you reload the account for an example with $100 you will be able keep the balance and account for another year, the bonus is that you'll have a working SIM card/phone numbwe for anytime in between the last fill up and the next year. IMO, is kind of a pain to order, wait and reload when you can just reload.

Good idea but it depends on how much he uses it and how often he is in the US. If you only go down once a year for a few days, adding $100 to keep it active for a year won't make sense, but if you head down a few times a year and/or stay for weeks and use data then it is a great idea.
