Here's an article published yesterday about the upcoming tiered data that's coming. Not really much new info though.
One thing I did notice was that TDS's CEO said that US cellular's network isn't strained which might be true in some areas, but why can't I even hit a half a MB/sec in Eastern NC on 3G, but all my friends and co-workers have Verizon and can get 2 or 3 MB's easy around here?
I've noticed the same strain here as well some times data is almost non existent at times and other times it's useable but not like it was when it was new.
Bummer, 5GB was a nice option if I decided to switch or add more phones to my fleet. 5GB used to be the 'fair' standard but now it's not. Thanks to AT&T and their 2GB... which is now 3GB...
Home ISP, RR-Turbo WiFi, $80/mo | Verizon 4G, $30/mo Unlimited
School, $5,000/semester | Work
I've been hearing about data sharing from Verizon and AT&T. Is it possible that USCC will do something similar? They're jumping on the band wagon with tiered data, has anyone heard about possible shared data plans as well?

I suspect it will be a long, long ways off if they do. In the article referenced, USCC made a comment that their billing system would need to be upgraded to manage throttling--if that is the case, I suspect it would likely need an upgrade to manage shared data. This is just speculation, of course.
Just curious if anyone has heard if 4G LTE data will be an added charge or a higher $$ tier plan if you get a 4G device? I'm in the initial rollout area and am trying to decide if I should wait and see what devices US Cellular comes out with or change to a different carrier. If they are making plans that include 4G LTE data more $$ then it would make my decision alot easier.
I hope not. We're paying for 5GB not the speed in which we get it. If they do charge more for 4G (like Sprint did) then there goes grandfathering in the future since we will all have to get a new phone sometime and 4G phones will be all that will be offered when the 3G ones are phased out.
Did Verizon charge existing customers more when they rolled out 4G?
There is no link to a story but www.fiercewireless.com has a posting under their news headlines that reads "U.S. Cellular said it will charge the same rate for LTE data as it currently does for 3G data." It does have a link beside this headline but it just sends you to the US Cellular data plans page.
If ture, then those worrying about more price should worry no more!
All I know is, after they release 4g phones if I'm not impressed, I'll be gone. To either VZ or AT&T.
I've always heard that AT&T has worse coverage, etc. VZ versus AT&T is an option for you? Has AT&T gotten better than VZ? Or are you focusing on one aspect of service (voice, data, etc.). Thanks. John V. Karavitis

AT&T is an option for me, it's cheaper than Verizon for me due to Unlimited Mobile to Any Mobile and Rollover minutes... HSPA+ is faster than VZ EVDO... (I'd get the iPhone), The ability to talk and surf is a huge advantage to me, and VZ's call quality is too choppy and robotic for my liking... But too each their own.
