How to Send Video to TV from First Gen Droid?

Can I just buy a micro USB to HDMI cable, get an app, and stream a Youtube video from my phone to my TV? Or, doesn't it work that way? It would be coming to my phone over my LAN Thanks,

For me, I have my gaming computer plugged into our 55" LED via HDMI cable so I just plugged the OG in and waited for it to detect and played the file. If you have a DLNA capable TV there is always that as well. Or stream from your home computer to your TV if you have it setup like that. OR, if you have a PS3 or some such that can read a USB stick and play movie files from it then you can load the movie onto there... There are a ton of options. Or just burn an upgrade and get a phone with a micro HDMI out...
