No warranty for VM phones purchased at Best Buy??

Charging port on my Triumph is bad so I called VM c/s. They told me the warranty has expired (wtf phone released half a year ago...) I started with VM by buying an Intercept on VM's website, that when the warranty starts....... And I bought the Triumph at Best Buy but VM still uses the same warranty for this phone.......
I don't know what's the problem with the c/s rep. I told him the phone was released in August last year but he insists the warranty has expired...

edit: I am talking to a supervisor at VM who insists I bought the VM Triumph in Dec 2010... FU....... That's all I can say.... after wasting almost an hour talking to these idiots....

VM has the worst customer support after boost..... i called boost last week and the rep told me that the prevail does not have a 2.3 update and that he was an expert at phone support...

i would wait a few days and call again and try to get a different rep

In my experience with VM CS, once you exchange a bad phone for a refurb under warranty, the warranty data that the reps have access to (associated with that MEID) only shows the ORIGINAL purchase date for the refurb. Even if you still have some warranty left on the purchase of your original phone, if that refurb was originally purchased more than a year ago, you can no longer do a warranty replacement.

AFAIK all you can do when that happens is buy a new phone.

They really need to work on the warranty policy. I had the same problem with Maxtor hard drives before Seagate bought out Maxtor. My replacement hard drive's warranty often came with serial numbers showing that the warranty had tolled several months before I'd even bought my new drive, which led to it having a shorter warranty than the brand new drive.

Sucks, but I think they assume you won't be needing to RMA/return/exchange a product too often.

How did you pay for your purchase @ Best Buy? If you used a credit or debit card, you might be able to contact the Best Buy store for assistance with this issue. Before you do that, you should call VM once again. Your experience sounds like you dealt with an incompetent rep.

Virgin Mobile CSReps can be clueless at times, if you get a dumb one as you aparantly did, you should just hang up on them and call again. The odds of having the same person answering your call is remote at best. Warranty claims are rarely handled by front line csreps. On your next call you should request the warranty replacement department.

First, do you have your receipt for the phone.

Second, did you try to resolve your issue directly with Motorola? I have used them in the past with no problems.

All devices have a one year manufacturers warranty but I believe you'd need to contact Motoroloa. Also if you paid with credit/debt it usually doubles the warranty. Everyone needs to make sure to keep their phone box with receipt together for when things like this happen (it's also good to have when reselling on ebay). There's other unethical ways to get replacement...
