New SoftBank prepaid policy: tourists allowed!

Finally, Softbank has seen reason and officially allows people without gaijin cards to get prepaid keitai. I'm not sure if this just applies to airport locations or if it's everywhere, but the signs at Narita airport now say that only a passport is required. I am now the proud owner of a 740SC and SoftBank prepaid number.

However, their prices border on extortionate. Over 9000 (insert joke here) yen for a 740SC. Wanted to get my own but apparently they don't sell SIMs on their own.

Nice. They didn't mention anything about this when I was there last night though...

SoftBank prepaid is call, SMS and email only. No data, no roaming.
