Bricked iPhone 3GS with iPad baseband

i was given an 3gs 8gb that had the firmware pushed to iPad 6.15 so they could unlock it. The problem is that is the 3GS was the newer model that should not be updated to 6.15 and now when i try to recover with iTunes it fails at the end with an error code of (-1). i have tried many ways and iTunes and the comp are up to date. i was told that the phone was updated to 5.01 and that this was a at&t phone. i have even tried redsnow to fix iTunes errors but the phone just reboots after you go throughout the setup. is there any way to get the iPhone to restore? I also disabled the apple.com line in the terminal with no luck also.

i had a similar issue a while back. use sn0wbreeze to cook up a custom ispw, enter DFU mode then shift+restore that custom ispw

I have a 3GS with that same issue. Basically when you flash the iPad baseband to these 3GS's with new bootrom you brick the phone. No more restores/flashing will help. Just toss it in the bin or use it for parts.
