Samsung Galaxy S2 Lose Unlock After Hard Reset?

Just purchased a used Samsung Galaxy S2 and the previous owner did not want to do a hard reset just in case it would remove the unlock (it's originally a Virgin Mobile device but I'm on Rogers). So I was just wondering if a hard reset would remove the unlock or no? I really want to start everything from scratch especially since this will be my first android phone. Thanks in advance

I did a factory reset on my boyfriend's S2 and it was still rooted

No, the device does not re-lock after a hard reset.
    Un-Rogered, and getting better 'value'.

That is a root, not an unlock. Different things.
