I fear that RIM may be the Betamax of the smartphone world...

the new boss does need to freshen the image quite a bit, the tech is there, but the Wow factor is getting tarnished...

I recall quite a few ppl on these boards LONG ago stating the same thing with BB vs Palm III/PPC-PE devices (myself included).

Your statement above makes me think of that old song (Bob Dylan?) at the very beginning of the movie (with that blue guy, that crazy guy with the smiley face that dies at the beginning), cannot recall the name.
