Your phone definitely isn't faster than the newest WP. Android just isn't as smooth and responsive, regardless of the ROMs or how powerful a CPU and GPU it has.
The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband. The reason Wind and Mobilicity users like pentaband phones is because the reverse is true. We're not the only ones who like pentaband phones though, so please stop referring to phones that work on Wind and Mobilicity as pentaband. It causes unnecessary cofusion.

Well, "abandoned" is not exactly the case just yet. The Symbian Belle update should start rolling out in couple of days, which is a HUGE improvement over the old UX, and there should be at least on more big update code named Carla,. there are rumors for a third one, called Donna, but that all depends on how fast Elop wants to kill Symbian, which depends on how well their WP7 phones sell. But yes, overall, Symiban is impressive, a true mobile OS

I am really excited about what Microsoft is going to do with Windows 8 + Windows Phone 8 .. A win 8 tablet (asus prime form factor) with a nice Nokia cell running on WP8 sounds kind of good. Its just sad, that I will be one of those users, who will be basically forced to use one of the BIG three "eco" systems.. I much rather keep on using Symbian.

The international Galaxy SII and Galaxy Note have proven that Android can be just as fast despite having loads more functionality and apps in the background.

I also disagree with you on Android as a platform having problems. The vast majority of 2011 Androids from Samsung, SE, HTC and Motorola have been realy good, with the exception of one or two HTC and Motos being rushed out with bugs.
Its all down to how well the manufacturer tailors their hardware and software to work together, Samsung and Sony Ericsson in paticular did a wonderful job on this in 2011.

You highlighted a major issue of mine in WP, all the phones are the same. Even hardware wise, so it becomes even harder to differentiate them, except screen size , design and maybe Camera, IMO that confuses the consumer, whereas in Android i can go in to a store, ask for their best Androids and i'll be shown a GS2, GNote , Xperia Arc S, Xperia Play Sensation XE Beats Audio, Evo 3D, Moto RAZR, Atrix, LG Optimus 2X and LG Optimus 3D, all of them very clearly different, and i can choose the one with the best hardware, UI etc...configuration i want.

Benchmarks recflect real world performance. That's why they're benchmarks. (Duh?)

Again, there is no WP7 on the market than can match my devices performance.

Not being able to differentiate with a specifications arms race is a good thing. It forces manufacturers to work on important stuff like sound quality and signal strength, which Android manufacturers consider to be ancillary to the almighty CPU/GPU/RAM trifecta

Benchmarks are artificial, otherwise you would have the Sam e optimizations for benchmark performance showing up in speed focused custom roms.

You seem to be forgetting, the people manufacturing WP7 are the same people manufacturing Android handsets. And again, there is still no WP7 device that can match my Shift's performance. Please find a handset you think can outmatch my Shift, and I'll explain why it can't match what my Shift can do.

Are you talking Evo Shift? cuz that thing is junky slow with HTC Sense bloating it up. Single core processor vs Single Core processor (likely the same Qualcomm processor) does not leave much room for variance especially with how much ram Sense takes up.
LTE has arrived. The third carrier in Las Vegas with 10x10 LTE coverage

Coverage will expand to 100 million LTE pops for the first half of 2013, with the second half of 2013 expanding to 200 million POPs covered. Release 10 LTE (2×10, 2×20) will be better performing than all other competitors.
T-Mobile USA. “This year, we’re stepping on the gas again. We are making continued coverage improvements and launching an advanced LTE network

Yeah, benchmark programs like Quadrant? I can run that on my nexus one, 5 times in a row and get vastly different scores every time. They tend to get progressively higher, plateau and then drop off. Real reliable (/sarcasm). And the scores vary quite a bit when using CM7 vs. MIUI.

And my Nexus One's top score will be equal to the lowest score that my Doubleshot with a dual core gets and it substantially smoother and visibly faster. Not exactly inspiring a lot of confidence in the reliability of the 'benchmark'.

Not running Sense UI. One of the many benefits of Android.

You see now that would be a great reason not to differentiate HW, but the WP manufacturers havent done much of that. Sound quality in many of them arent even close to what e.g the Samsung Galaxy S and S2 produce thanks to their Wolfsen and Yamaha DACs respectively, and i havent heard any complaints about Android phones with poor signal except with devices made by HTC which isnt just their Androids but WM6.X and WP7 phones.

Competition in Android has manufacturers trying to differentiate themselves in all kinds of ways not "JUST CPU/GPU/RAM" as you'd like to believe.
We have Motorola making the RAZR with the thinnest yet most durable body made of metal and kevlar and on top of it all being dust and splash proof, and now with the RAZR MAXX with a huge 3300mAh batt.
HTC with their Beats Audio partnership and unibody Androids, HTC SenseUI
Samsung with amazing AMOLED hi res displays, as well as with the phablet Galaxy Note filling a niche we didnt know exsisted.
SE/SONY with their gorgeous Xperia devices, simple yet elegant UXP UI and exceetc...

You'd have to be so ignorant to just say CPU/GPU and RAM are the only thing they differentiate.

Nokia has done exactly that, I can use my lumia 710 in direct sunlight, reception is great, sound quality is phenomenal and the noise cancellation does a great job and makes it possible to carry on a conversation in a noisy environment. To get a screen that works in sunlight I need to get something like the LG optimus black, but the sound quality of it is ****.

Also, lol at not having to use sense being a benefit of android. Having to take off ****** manufacturer UI customizations is one of the many platform problems

No, it's a benefit. Why? It's called choice.
