Question IntelliScreenX - Disabling Email Preview?

    Jailbreak noob here...

I'm trialing IntelliScreenX right now and so far - I'm pretty impressed by it - I was really looking for something to show me the time and weather on the lockscreen, which this seems to do very nicely.

I also like the extended calendar/reminder views - and the little RSS feeds up top.

One thing I don't like, however, is the immediate access to any incoming emails I have. I have a passcode on my phone simply because I don't want anyone reading my emails if I leave my phone out. With ISX, as soon as you get an email - you can read the entire thing without entering in any passcode - you simply click on it, and you can read the message body.

Is there any way to disable this aspect of ISX? I don't mind being able to see who the email is from, or even the subject - I just don't want to be able to click on it and read its entire contents without entering in my passcode...

    Thoughts?

Go into ISX settings - mail - turn notification center off. I think that will do it.

You know - I actually tried that - no dice.

I actually have absolutely everything checked into the "Off" position (Notification Center, as well as each of the three email accounts I have on my phone - I have Twitter, FB and Mail all in the "Hidden ISX Pages" section too).

I'm wondering if this is some sort of glitch with ISX and iOS 5.0.1 - I even just updated the ISX software today (they just pushed an update out this afternoon).

I'm not sure I want to shell out the $10 for this - simply because it's so insecure...

EDIT - although I absolutely love everything else about having all of that info right on the lock screen (the calendar, weather, big clock, ticker, etc).

You should be more concerned about losing the phone itself rather than the privacy of email messages. If you prevent access to the device, you prevent access to its contents.

Give Lockinfo a try before you decide. It does the same exact thing, is cheaper and in my opinion works better than IS.

Of course - that's the most obvious answer: "Don't let anyone else touch your phone". But we wouldn't need security at all if that were an actual possibility, right? I'm more concerned with someone swiping my phone and then instantly having access to any incoming messages - as well as the ability to reply to them...

Thanks to all for the other suggestions - I'll check out that LockInfo app and shoot the dev a quick message.

Nobody would steal your phone just so they could spy on your email messages. They would steal your phone to use themselves or to sell.

Clearly, what you do for a living and what I do for a living are two completely different things. While you may have absolutely nothing of value in your email communications and feel that no one would be interested in those communications, that is simply not that case with me. In the environments I live my life in (which are clearly different than those you find yourself in), having sensitive information taken from a cell phone is a very real possibility.

It looks like you have nothing of value to add to this discussion, whatsoever. I'm just looking for a solution here - and anyone else who might find themselves in the same boat in the future shouldn't have to dig through pages and pages of rubbish to find an answer to their problems - so lets not turn this into one of the thousands of threads that HoFo is now littered with: people talking about something that they have no idea about.

It would be better for the community as a whole if these threads just stuck to the topic at hand...

So far - from my question of how to get emails out of the notification area in ISX - your suggestions have been:
    - Don't let anyone touch your phone; and
    - No one wants to read your emails.

None of them are even on topic...

Anyone with any knowledge of security procedures know that the first step is physical securitty. You protect the device from unauthorized access. No employer would allow an employee to compromise the security of devices by allowing them to gain root access and store sensitive information on a device which could easily be stolen or misplaced.

^ Clearly - we all do our best to ensure our devices do not get stolen - but we do all live in the "real" world. It's not like I leave the thing lying out on the table at a restaurant when I go to the bathroom - but "stuff" happens. The most OBVIOUS and LEAST helpful suggestion is: don't let anyone touch your phone - yet your three posts suggest only that - and nothing further.

The purpose of this thread is to figure out how to get the email preview off of ISX. Do you have any suggestions for that, or is the "Post Machine" just trying to up his post count further?

I haven't been on HoFo in a while - I used to come here for great information - now I'm just stuck digging through pages and pages of threads that have nothing at all to do with the thread titles...It's a shame, really...
