N8 MMS with data services turned off?

I'm looking to buy a Nokia N8 for my mother to use. Since she has constant access to wifi, I see no need to add a data plan to her account especially since the N8 allows data services to be turned off (thus avoiding accidental 3g data usage).

My only concern is....if data is disabled in the connectivity settings (data use in home network>WLAN only checked), will her MMS continue to work? (it will be on AT&T)

I don't think that the MMS should in any way be affected by not having a data plan. My son has unlimited text but no data plan.

I know the existence of a data plan does not affect MMS functionality from the carrier's perspective. However, I'm more concerned about the N8's ability to send/receive MMS with the phone's data set to WLAN only.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone out there could give it a shot. If MMS is confirmed to work fully with the phone's data set to WLAN only, I'll be set!

Setting should be found in menu>connectivity>data use in home network>WLAN only

i send mms (picture messages) with my n8 from home all the time, it connects to my wifi. i have a data plan too, but it sticks to my wifi.

it has the option to use the data only when it can't connect to the wifi right away; i have my destinations labeled as 1)wifi 2)data.

it shouldn't connect to data if you don't have it in the destinations.
