Bloatware: Does Ice Cream Sandwich bring the cure for this?
Ice Cream Sandwich introduced the capability of disabling (hiding) bloatware... at least until carriers find out how to bypass this capability. For those of you running ICS, does hiding the bloatware also stops the Android Market from nagging you with updates to the bloatware?
I'm sick of this picture! I'm not going to waste valuable app storage space downloading updates for apps I wish were not there in the first place. Is ICS smart enough to stop this madness?
Not the answer you want to hear, but you can turn on "automatic updates" for any app--at least helps skip the bother even for desired apps. If ICS is like launcher pro, hiding apps doesnt prevent updates.
What Steve said; this will save you from ever losing space on your internal memory. You can root to remove the apps, but this will not free up space for new apps (due to the way your internal mem is divided).

App storage is a thing of the past in ICS. All of the internal fee memory in the phone (on the case of the Galaxy Nexus, that's over 13 GB) is available to install apps.

Getting rid of bloat on Gingerbread is easy, but it requires a rooted phone. If you have a rooted phone you can downloaded numerous apps that allow you to uninstall any app you like from the phone. A slightly safer approach is to use Titanium Backup to FREEZE the apps you don't want. Then, if you find you've removed something you actually needed, you can THAW the app and use it once again.
