Cosmos 2 vs Intensity II vs Jest 2- any reason to prefer one?
I've gotten to my new 2 year upgrade point, and these seem to be the feature phones available that are a) free and b) have a QWERTY keyboard. I currently have a Cosmos, so this might not be much of an upgrade, but it would be nice to have something a little bit newer and with a new battery. Is there any significant difference in reception? Battery life?

The average customer ratings for the Cosmos 2 and the Intensity 2 at verizonwireless.com, phonearena.com , cnet.com, and phonescoop.com overall are so poor and so low that my opinion is that they're not worth considering.
About the only place right now with a decently large enough number of reviews for the Jest 2 is verizonwireless.com; right now the Jest 2 seems to be fairly well liked.
If these are the only three you're considering, then my vote is to gamble on the Jest 2. Hopefully Pantech fixed a major flaw in the Jest 1 which was that if the battery was drained to the point that the phone shut off then customers found it impossible to recharge the phone -- they had to resort to charging the bare battery in a separate battery charger.
I want to suggest another option. Enough of the b&m Walmarts and Targets over here still carry the Samsung u370 which is basically the Samsung Reality. By now it's been out long enough that it's pretty much free at those two stores with a two year contract. We have it and have been very pleased with it. While the Reality has a mixed track record of customer reviews, the u370 has received positive reviews at community.verizonwireless.com [unfortunately, after their forum software was upgraded, most of the discussions from the previous forum software were not ported over] The keyboard is great; the software is stable; the earpiece and speakerphone quality are great; the camera-pictures are of pleasing quality; and the touchscreen has been accurate. About the only con that I can think of right now is that the phone freezes if music is listened to through headphones instead of through the speaker. Battery life can be up to three or four days if you just talk and around two days if you use the video player/music player/text messaging enough.

Take a look at Radio Shack online. They have the LG Octane and Lg Extravert for free. They both have Qwerty keyboards. The Extravert is a touch screen. I just got the Octane 2 weeks ago and I love it.
