I'm in Western NC and I am pretty fascinated by T-Mobile 3G/4G Expansion. I will post here differences I note for Western NC.
As of Jan 27th
1) Mooresville gets "3G" expansion. Initially it was just downtown and south towards Charlotte. Now covers further north.
2) 2 new Towers were installed in a previously no coverage/no roaming area. They were immediately installed as 3G rather than EDGE even though I see no big city/town nearby, great news.
3) Numerous smaller areas that previously had 3G are now 4G, (Or moving from "Fast Mobile Web" to "Very Fast Mobile Web")
This is all for now, Hope to keep seeing more expansion like this. Sadly I still sit with GPRS, maybe one day!
In areas with new coverage that it never had before counter check it with the voice coverage to makes sure it is actually there. What I learned a few mins ago is that it shows data coverage but it may not be there. That or the voice coverage map isn't being updated. For example look at Cameron, La, It shows 3G web in that area but the voice coverage says otherwise.

Release 10 LTE (2×10, 2×20) will be better performing than all other competitors. T-Mobile USA. “This year, we’re stepping on the gas again. We are making continued coverage improvements and launching an advanced LTE network
Back again now with the new coverage maps, compiled to show NC/SC. Shows pretty much bad news, at least there is coverage.. just.. so much to catch up to.
