I'm looking at getting the Galaxy S2 sometime in the next little while. I have an offer from a friend to sell me their hardly-used Galaxy Tab 10.1 though, and I'm considering it because I can get it for significantly cheaper than I can get the phone.
I work out at sea on a ship, and have very little access to the internet (just slow satellite connections and a few minutes here and there in ports), so I wanted to see if any of you have used either or both of these devices and what your thoughts are. I'm told that the Tab can be used as a phone (is this true?) but I'm leaning strongly toward the S2 because I like that it's more pocketable.
I assume they have a similar list of features/apps/etc, but the one thing that's got my attention on the Tab is that I can get it much cheaper than I can get the phone.
My primary purpose in having it would be to use things like the translator apps, currency conversion, maps, and basic internet stuff (facebook, gmail), as I travel internationally a lot (I'm in a different country a few times a week for about 10 months of the year).
Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated. Thanks!
~Joe
You can't use the Tab 10.1 as a phone, in my understanding; I believe that was mostly for the seven-inch models. Certainly doesn't apply to Wi-Fi only versions!
It depends on whether or not you'll have a full computer with you, I'd say. If not, the Tab will cover a lot of duties for you. If you do, it may be somewhat superfluous for someone who probably has a lot to carry already.
