Telus very briefly had a sharing plan available but it did not last long. I think they found it was more trouble than it was worth. (training CSR, billing systems, customer confusion etc)
So instead of that kind of sharing they promote mobile hotspot features on the phone to enable sharing the data for free. They really push the fact that this kind of sharing is free instead of costing extra. For anyone who wants the separate SIM they have a nice tablet flex plan that starts at $5/mo which is pretty reasonable. For "most" people it's actually a decent option just to tether via wifi to your phone (unless you have been a blackberry user up to now).

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

They tell me that they're basically incapable of pooling data. Bell offers us pooling plans for aircards, can have 30 1GB plans that pool together for a 30GB bucket for all.
Telus just is incapable of it, I don't know anyone at any time that's managed it.
Mind you, a corporate rep sat across from me and told me that they've NEVER offered per-second billing too..... that their system is just incapable of it.....
Tell that to the guys still holding onto their per-second billing plans.... although HSPA will eventually force us all off those

If you swap devices to HSPA you can still keep per second billing on old voice plans. Nothing about the HSPA network changes that. As long as you keep the plan you keep the per second billing.
They never changed billing systems when deploying HSPA so voice plans do not require any changes if you do not want to.
Calculating the amount of time lost for per minute billing isn't too hard to estimate. Just count the number of calls made during the day and divide by 2. That's how many extra minutes you should require if you converted from per second to per minute billing.
As for the topic of Data pooling I have not found it is a big problem. The Tablet flex plan is a decent choice but most people I know just get the wifi versions of tablets and use their phones as a hotspot. On business accounts I have just gotten the $30 6GB plans. The dealer isn't always able to select that plan but I just email my Telus rep and get it switched to the 6GB plan. A sharing enabled data plan would not likely be any cheaper than the $30 and 6GB is practically unlimited for everyone. Paying $30 per user for 1GB shared or paying $30 per person for 6GB each doesn't really make any practical difference to me. The 6GB feature code does not appear to be going away though it's not always available for new accounts. Right now the dealer can pick a $30 for 3GB feature code on my business accounts.
I'm not sure why Telus doesn't do more data sharing. I already responded to this thread with my guess at the reasons.
I kept a $5 flex tablet plan (most of the time unused) and tether off my 6GB data plan on the phone. If for a reason I need to use the tablet SIM, I have the flexibility to use it. Otherwise - in most cases - I'll just be using the 6GB.
If you use 0.0MB data one month, is it $5 or $0? Telus.ca just says "up to 10MB". If $0 then not bad, just the $35 setup fee? Though I guess if your WiFi went out you might accidentally use enough Telus data (any) to trigger the $5.

No plans to add it.
Flex data plan for tablets is the nearest priced alternative with it's own separate data bucket.
