    COU for personal use?

I was just wondering what amount of personal use can be done on a cou cell phone line? We are told we are supposed to keep our cou lines on us all of the time but are we really supposed to keep our personal and cou on us all the time? Most people I know done even have personal, am I wasting my money on one? Where can we see a specific detail on what amount of personal use is okay on a cou line?

That's actually a gray area when it comes to the COU phones.

Techically in new hire traning, they tell you that COU's are not for personal use and only for business use, but that is pretty much the stock answer they have to tell you. Everyone in the company, from RSC all the way up the chain of command use their COU for personal use.

The only time you would get a counseling about COU use is if you use it in excess. Like if you use 5 gig a month in data or like 5000 minutes. If you don't abuse it, then you'll never hear about it. I wouldnt worry about it. That is why many of the long term reps don't have personal lines. Why have one when you get free cell service with your COU?

They can at any time inspect your phone to see if there is anything inappropriate on it, although I have yet to have anyone inspect my phone in the 9 years I've been with the company. But just common sense, no porn on your COU phone and just keep it clean.

Also, you DO NOT need to keep your COU on you at all times. Most of the people I work with who have personal lines barely use their COU and only have it with them and turned on when at work. When you are not at work and off the clock, you do not have to have your phone on you or even turned on. I even know some reps who leave their COU phone at work and don't want to be bothered when off the clock.

So it is a priveledge to have a COU phone and you could use it as your full time phone like 95% of all the other RSCs do. Or if you do not want to be bothered, just get a personal line and only use your COU at work.

I don't use my COU for personal use, but that's just my choice. My store rotates phones monthly, and I like to use what I want to use and how I want to use it.

Ya I can relate to that.

I just recently got a personal line to seperate business and personal, but it's a Verizon phone. Frankly their LTE network is far more vast than ours and it's a better network over all. Our LTE rollout is a joke and we'll be behind Verizon for awhile.

Just cause I work for AT&T, doesn't mean I have to use AT&T for personal use.
