Hello,

Well, today i received the code to unlock my Nokia 6301. I am certain it has worked, but i am unable to actually test this due to another issue. A persistent flashing white screen at the time and date menu.

The following happened before i unlocked it.

I purchased this 6301 used and locked to tmobile. Advertised as the following:

"This phone works fine. There is nothing wrong with it. I am only getting rid of it because I got a new
phone. The Nokia 6301 has been working very wll since I was using it and still turns on!"

When i got the phone, i powered it on. Message pops up saying "startup without SIMCARD". So i hit accept, and the phone starts. After going through the start up logos, i am immediately thrown to the date and time page on the phone.

But just as i try to read the screen it begins to start flashing white, then back to the normal screen, then to white and so on. for about 5-8 seconds before it completely shuts off.

So, i thought maybe it was because the phone was locked, i would not be able to access the phone without a sim card. I mean, its a reasonable thought, my 3120 wont start up without a sim card so it was not out of the ordinary at first.

When i would stick my ATT sim card in, the screen would display "phone restricted", and i could then hit unlock, and enter the code. No white flashing screen at this part whatsoever.

But letting the phone sit at this "phone restricted" screen or "startup without simcard" screen was not a problem. I could let it sit there for hours without ever having a problem. It was perfectly stable at those points.

So, for the time being i had left it while i sourced an unlock solution, which i finally did. And this morning i decided to unlock it. Entered the code, i got the message "phone restriction off". I would call that unlocked since it now will startup with my ATT simcard in the phone, unlike before.

But, immediately i was put off when the problem with the white screen came back again. After i unlocked the phone! The phone still starts up to that time and date screen, and not the home screen.

I have searched and searched and only one other guy has what might be a similar problem, but there was no solution.

I have installed nokia suite, but i cant even connect the phone since it doesn't stay on, nor can i get it to go to usb mode.

The nokia website seems to be useless as i cannot find a list of their "Care Centers". (or im just terrible at looking)

One other incident similar to mine said something about the software being on the micro sd card. Mine does not have one in it. Should the problem lie here?


But now i am left stranded. I have no clue. If anyone could shed some light on the situation, i would greatly appreciate it.

Also i took a video of the process, pre-unlock to after entering the code, so if you guys think that would be helpful, ill put it up on youtube, and drop a link in here.
