Dilemma....help me out here. Want to switch from AT&T to Verizon...
I have 3 lines with AT&T on my family plan. I pay for both my parents phones so they have cell phones as they are retired and to keep them in constant touch. 2 are iphone 4s, and the other is just a flip phone.
My problem is my contract ends in November. I really wanted to switch to get the Motorola Razr Maxx for myself, but since I am stuck under contract and both my parents really do not want to leave AT&T that kinda leaves me stuck on how to do this without paying a lot for two providers. For those that have switched and have similar things to this, how did you do it? What do you recommend? I personally don't use that many minutes especially since I have mobile to mobile any provider. Neither did they. This is the first month we went over our 700 anytime minutes and utilizing our roll over because we had a lot of calls and emergencies this month that came up.
If it was me I would prob find someone that needed a phone(I could trust) and let them use my AT&T line and pay some each month until contract was up or maybe someone who could take over one of my lines so I wouldn't get an etf. Easiest would be someone using line. Then the money they pay would offset some of your vz bill.

Give me some ideas, advice, etc. Thanks!
You should definitely try out VZW service before switching. I recently switched from AT&T to VZW and you wouldn't believe how much I miss most of AT&T.

Details please Newyork. Or PM me the details if you dont want to post them here.
Verizon is horrible in the two places he is most of the time so that means Verizon is horrible everywhere. They aren't, and with every carrier network experience varies market by market, North Carolina reflect nothing of San Antonio, TX.
Atlanta, GA may be 100% different than TX but its ok for me
And besides, he is on the legacy 3G network with iPhone's on Verizon. If you are getting LTE phone's, your more than likely not going to have a bad experience just like the other 87.8 million postpaid subs on Verizon.

Aside from Verizon's network quality, which I'll address shortly, there are several annoying (lack of) features on Verizon:
1) Simultaneous voice & data -- even if you don't actively use it while in call, you won't believe how much it sucks when you don't get emails or MMSs while you are on phone calls. If you get a 4G phone, this won't be a problem though.
2) Calling features -- you can't put calls on hold on Verizon. Nor can you merge calls, separate calls, or do 3,4,5, or 6-way calling.
3) Voice quality -- it's not great. At it's absolute best, it sounds like a mediocre call on AT&T. At it's worst, you'll wish you had two cans and some string.
4) Lack of AnyMobile--turns out, I was making a lot of calls to other mobile numbers. I had never gone above 400 min of my 700 min plan, and the first two weeks on VZW I was at 970.
On network:
1) The 3G is way oversold. It *can* get good speeds, but more often than not they are mediocre to lousy now.
2) I've found substantially better in-building coverage on AT&T than Verizon.
3) I've dropped significantly more calls in a month on VZW than I have in 2 years on AT&T.
Those are the main things for me.
What's particularly odd is that I went from AT&T (which is PCS only in NC) to VZW (with both CLR bands) and the service went down. You being in San Antonio is the exact opposite situation--AT&T has both CLR bands (better for coverage, indoors and out) and VZW only has PCS.
For you especially, you'll *really* want to fully test out VZW's network, because they are fighting with one hand tied behind their back in your market.
