    Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile

Thought I saw a guide that answered this, but I can't seem to find it now...

I think I know what I need to do, but just want to confirm it. I want to go from my Galaxy S Vibrant that just completed a 2 yr contract to a Galaxy Nexus on the Monthly 4G 100 minute/5GB $30 plan.

    * Bought the Galaxy Nexus from Amazon.
    * Bought the $3 SIM card activation kit from T-Mobile.

And then this is what I still have to do...

    * Transfer my T-Mobile number to Google Voice (I want to keep the number).
    * Contact T-Mobile and close my account.
    * Activate my SIM card with the Monthly 4G plan.

    That about right?

Yep. All calls you receive via your old number will be through Google Voice however, unless you happen to port that number from Google Voice to the Walmart plan as well (you are not able to port from T-mobile to T-mobile apparently and require a middle man aka Google Voice). Also, you don't have to contact T-mobile to cancel your account; the porting process does that automatically for you.

    Hey guys.
I am thinking about getting the Galaxy Nexus and am on T-Mobile. What exactly is Google voice?
Would it completely replace my data/internet and voice plan with t-mobile? I have tried to look up what exactly google voice includes but can't find any straight answers. Any help would be appreciated!

Google Voice would not replace your data & voice plan. Google gives you a phone number and they will forward the calls made to that number to your existing T-Mobile number. It might replace your text messaging plan if you had people text you at your google voice number. You could reply via your data connection and would not need a messaging feature.

Go to voice.google.com for more info.

You can just call up T-Mobile and ask them to switch you to the Monthly 4G plan. There's no activation fee needed if you're going from postpaid to prepaid.

I actually did that with an ETF and it still went through fine.

As for the SIM card: you can just move it; no need for the $3 kit.

With GrooveIP, it would replace the voice part of it by using data, which is basically unlimited on that plan. It would probably require a pretty good signal though, so it sounds like a bit of a kludge.
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.

I did this just last weekend, was very easy and smooth. I just moved to different monthly 4G PLAN.

Is it this easy going from nada to the monthly 4G? On the website it's impossible to get to that plan via the "have device" options...

I ordered the SIM activation kit, since it didn't come with one, so I'm expecting I'll have to install that, and simply call a rep to marry the $30 plan with the microsim?

(by the way, it is a Verizon SCH-I515, already rooted, I believe)

i515 only has CDMA and LTE (700). You need i9250 to make it work.

Thanks I switched to the I9250 and I'm working smoothly on T-Mobile. The only issue I have still is with Google Voice and no popups when receiving texts/GV not used by default, but it works well otherwise.
