Sadly, no. It is still $25 for 500 mb on the Go Phone data plan, but if you don't talk or text much it can still work out to be OK with pay-as-you-go service + data plan.
If you talk more or need more data there are far better deals for more data and minutes if you go through MVNO's such as Straight Talk or Red Pocket.
right i do have straight talk but looking for a android phone and you can get that unless you can get sprint and if you dont get sprint you cant have android with ST
right now the only thing that is preventing me from going to go phone is the data plans i dont mind paying for it i just dont think the 25.00 for 500mb is worth it maybe 30.00 for 3GB is worth it just dont know why its not available on any GO phone plan..
Well yea, the major carriers are still not overly friendly to pre-paid, because they make all their money off overpriced post-paid service that they hook people with. $30 for 3GB is not that good of a deal when it is bundled with a $75 monthly voice + text plan, and on a contract on top of that.
That said, there are plenty of options. If T-Mobile's network is satisfactory for you then they are much more friendly to pre-paid users. You can also SIM swap a Straight Talk Nokia SIM into any AT&T Android easily. Red Pocket provides decent rates for access to AT&T. Some non-ATT branded Androids will work with the AT&T Go Phone $50 unlimited plan. If you keep looking around here and reading, you will find a way to get what you are looking for.
Now that you can legitimately run almost any AT&T phone on Straight Talk for $45 a month, there is little reason for anyone to have a smartphone on AT&T GoPhone. I think they will be glad to be rid of pre-paid users anyway, and this is their way of giving us the hint.
Since I use much less data each month than the $5 refill gives me, my data account is getting larger. Does anyone know if there's a limit to the amount of data one can have built up in one's account before AT&T says "no more" ?

Except for folks like me who use next to nothing for voice and SMS and really keep GoPhone just for occasional mobile data access. Works out cheaper than any other alternative right now (even with GoPhone's rather high data prices.)
Even $45 is too much for a light user like me...waste of $.

That'd be 1,500Mb (aprox. 1.5Gb). So don't worry. It'd take you years to reach the limit by buying only $5/10Mb data packages every month.

Hi, my name is Jairzinho and I've been Wireless Contract-free for 12 years!

I'm in the same boat. I hardly reach 80~100 min/month and almost no SMS. Only occasional data access for my iPhone when no wifi is available and I need to use it right away. Ironically for at&t, the fact that they throttle the 3G speed makes me use less of their expensive data services, otherwise, with regular 3G speed I'd be probably using data more often (and paying to them more) every month for data. Very smart guys those at&t execs.
Thanks Jairzinho....I use wi-fi all the time and actually have to force myself to use data just to keep my account from building up too much. I like to have some data available for emergencies.

I understood that you can have no more than three iterations of whatever sized data package you bought. So if you are purchasing the ten megabyte package, you can only accumulate three of them or thirty megabytes at one time. Probably you can mix and match but you can only have up to three packages at one time.

Unless thing have changed (which I doubt) the limit has been 3x the biggest non-unlimited monthly size available of the package regardless what non-unlimited package size you buy. That'd make it 3000 sms and 1.5Gb.
That's why you can mix and match without fear of going beyond 3x the size of a smaller package (which I do w/ data: $5/10Mb/month and when I run low I buy $25/500mb one time, otherwise my limit would be just 30Mb)
I don't think if you stick to just $5/10Mb your limit is just 30Mb but I haven't done it that way. If desertdude tell us that he has gone beyond 30Mb by buying only $5/10Mb at the time then there is no such low limit.
You can have a total of three data packs at one time. You cannot buy two ten megabyte packs and two five hundred megabyte packages. The system will only allow three packs regardless of the sizes.
