It's just that on other non-smartphones Metro does have some sort of proprietary browser named "metroWeb". So, when the Androids came out and people saw "metroWeb", they tried to REMOVE it and put in the "stock" Android 2.2 browser (which was current at the time). It already was the stock 2.2 browser! (just re-skinned) People found out the hard way that removing the "metroWeb" (Android) browser from the Optimus screwed up the Market app. Then they tried to put it back in, and many couldn't.
I listened to some of these people and screwed up my phone for awhile. (Hey, they seemed to know more than me. Big mistake. It doesn't hurt to question conventional wisdom.) They didn't know that Metro just re-skinned the Android browser so the name and look would be consistent with other phones in their lineup.
So, I had to reflash everything back to stock, re-root and this time I left the metroWeb browser alone! Now with the newer versions of Market, I understand it does not rely upon the Android browser being present, but I still don't like to mess with it!
I use Dolphin HD -- out of habit -- due to the Optimus flash deficiencies, but I have no problem letting the metroWeb (Android) browser just peacefully co-exist on the phone.
Your creed may be interesting, but your deeds are much more convincing.
