Am I reading this correctly? Rogers will unlock iPhones? I've been a Rogers customer since 2004 and I believe I am in good standing (bills always paid on time). I'm currently in the middle of my 3 year contract. I have about 1.5 years left. Will Rogers unlock my iPhone 4 for $50? If so, where can I go in Vancouver to get this done?
    List of dumb posts:

Yes, Rogers began unlock all of their phones, including iPhones, in Jan 2010 for $50+tax. There are eligibility requirements, first and foremost that the phone not have any obligations attached to it. If you bought your current phone on contract and still have a year to go, then that automatically rules you out from eligibility. There are two ways to meet that requirement:
    1) wait it out. This means either wait 1.5 years until your contract expires or wait 1 year and when you HUP to a new phone, your old one becomes eligible.
    2) pay your ECF/DECF. This is a little dicey because you also need an open account to unlock it, so you need to ensure the timing doesn't bite you in the ***.

Telus has a more liberal unlock policy, where you can have your phone unlocked 90 days after purchase. But, they charge $75 and do not include iPhones.
    Carrier unlocked iPhone 4
Unlimited airtime, Unlimited CAN/US long distance, Unlimited SMS to CAN/US wireless numbers
2500 Call Forwarding minutes to CAN/US numbers
    CiD, 6GB
Google Voice for visual voice mail with message transcription, conditional greetings, unlimited messages (vs 35 message cap), remote retrieval from any PC or phone, no auto-purge after 10 days and most importantly no $7-$8 charge.
