Yes, all Rogers and Chatr phones are sim locked to sim cards that start with 89302720. To the phone, sim cards from both companies are the same.

GF's dad just broke her phone, is on Rogers PAYGo and already paid for the year. I'm thinking the Nokia 1616 is the best option for him. Chatr has it cheapest, I remember reading that Chatr phones work on Rogers without needing to be unlocked, but I'd just like to confirm.
The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband. The reason Wind and Mobilicity users like pentaband phones is because the reverse is true. We're not the only ones who like pentaband phones though, so please stop referring to phones that work on Wind and Mobilicity as pentaband. It causes unnecessary cofusion.

But migo, but this is your big chance to impress the GF's old man. Go buy him the newest smartphone as a gift! If you went and got him the Nokia, he's going to think, "do I want this cheapo dating my daughter?"![]()

^I agree
Ha ha... I guess that all depends on how old your GF's old man is. My in laws don't need or want high-end phones, so I just got them both simple flip phones.
BTW, the Nokia C1 from Fido also works on Chatr without unlocking. I got one for no cost (just had to pay tax) as part of the Fido Trade $50 credit.

I traded in a Nokia 8390!!! It was during the Fido Trade +50 program, when any phone you turn in will receive $50 on top of its value. The Flipswap program is a ripoff anyway, so getting an extra $50 is great. I activated a new prepaid line but did not purchase an airtime voucher, so it only worked out to taxes for the $50 of the C1's price.
The funny thing is, it's now easier to find a complex phone for around the $100-200 mark; finding a cheap and cheerful phone with great battery life and reception and simple UI is getting more difficult!
