    Don't worry about Fragmentation by RIM. They've been able to handle that well with tight screen resolution restrictions and very minimal size variations/layouts.

    I, like many other prefer the hardware keyboard ONLY for BlackBerry. But I type JUST AS EFFECIENTLY on an iOS iPhone device as I ever did on BB SureType or on standard BB Qwerty. I think the preference is seriously due to the muscle memory - its been 4mths since I've touched a BB and today just holding the 9900 was like pure hand-sex ... the way it felt, the way the buttons where so plush and firm to press, the tight metal band around its body ... lol.

    Some KEY points to take home are:

    - iPhone is STILL the most robust touchscreen device where calls can STILL be ended and dialled using the software buttons vs dedicated hardware buttons.
    - BB users STILL require the LED ... notifications are STILL king for quick response and feedback. Showing alerts on Lock screen is nice but you loose privacy & - immediacy of the required/expected/needed alert. Light blinks RED = new email/sms/call, modifying these LEDs gives so much power. This is where I respect SonyEricsson and now Sony for KEEPING LED on their Android phones ... they STILL understand the REAL killer app of any phone/smartPHONE is to MAKE/RECEIVE CALLS!!
    - RIM needs a serious BB platform overhaul and shakeup; menus are STILL to long and changing minitea settings is STILL too complex for not just the average user to get around/recall but even the most advance user is STILL learning new functionality or shortcuts after a 2yr daily use of their device.

    * do NOT nominate or support a BB fanatic fan like Kevin of crack berry to head RIM. This guys doesn't understand the complexities and reason of WHY a BB is entrenched in business', how to run a global corporate business nor even understand the basics of Business or marketing beyond a fan site. I personal cannot do better but you don't hear ME suggestion the corporate name be changed from RIM to BlackBerry?!??!!!! The BB name is tarnished, nobody in their right business sensical mind would change it to the ONLY product brand that is tarnished to try to revive the business. The opportunity to use BB10 the branch out, create a NEW product line - start from scratch (marketing, product design, target sure market, etc) and get both brands to do what they can do BEST. Almost EVERY company in the smartphone, or computing space has more than one brand: Apple iOS, iPhone, iPad, Mac; Nokia S60, S40, WM7, etc; LG/Samsung/Sony TV's, smartphones, etc and their respective brands, Google - Docs, Gmail, Picasa, etc; need I go on? if one tanks the OTHERS can pick up the slack

    ^LOL - I responded to Kevin's post about dropping the RIM name to say pretty much the same thing as you, but less wordy. That's almost as ridiculous as him wanting to be CEO of RIM! At least with the latter he's probably being 50% facetious (hopefully). That aside, I think he does know a thing or two about marketing. The guy runs a pretty sucessful business if you ask me.

    I hope they hurry, I would hate to see a Canadian tech company scooped up and lose their Canadian soul.

    there are already so many wolves at the door, I pray that this "Last gasps" will come and come in time to save them.

    At first glimps I thought this was an android. With blackberry playbook using android apps, I wonder if RIM has considered being a smartphone manufacturer for android phones?

    @timvideo

    I'm sure they will not produce hardware for android, I think QNX will prove itself as a great mobile OS and so I think RIM will stick with this.

    To be quite honest I don't think RIM should consider being a hardware manufacturer any longer. They should outsource ALL manufacturing out of the company ... let LG, Samsung, or HTC do the manufacturing - ALL have the facilities for massive volume and long proven quality in doing so, along with being OEMs in the past or currently. This way quality control in partnership can be checked at the warehouses, and then load RIM's OS and do checks on site and THEN ship directly. The economies of scale, low taxes and assembly costs, more than make this the IDEAL solution.

    RIM is the Apple of the phone world when we look at their OS and Hardware combo but have the late sit back attitude and skiddish adoption to trends like Microsoft
