Hi there, I'm new here. I got my son an iPhone 4 (5.0.1) and I was able to run jailbreak and downloaded and ran ultrasn0w, but for some reason it just won't unlock. I was told to turn it off and THEN boot it up with an active micro-sim. That means I have to go to T-Mobile to do that. Is there any place I can get an activated micro-sim besides T-Mobile? I just would hate to activate it, and then if the unlock doesn't work, then my son won't have a phone and I would have to buy the only T-Mobile micro-sim phone which is $400. Any suggestions?
I am a little confused. My Verizon phone was able to roam on GSM because they used TDMA. Tell it was shutdown. The phone recognizes it as Analog. If PCS has TDMA, It could be technically be used on GSM.

OK, I checked for the BB version according to this link, but I can't find it. Under Modem Firmware, it says Diagnostic & Usage, Legal, and Regulatory. I can't find the BB info anywhere.
I've heard some news that you are able to downgrade your firmware by using iClarified I also found another link: iNeedJailBreak that supposedly lets you jailbreak the iPhone4S now. Has anyone checked these out?
You cannot unlock your phone. People keep telling you but you keep trying. Admirable but futile. You BB has been upgraded and not preserved, so you cannot unlock your phone.
Use one of the MVNOs suggested or sell it and buy an unlock unit from Apple.
Carrier unlocked iPhone 4
Unlimited airtime, Unlimited CAN/US long distance, Unlimited SMS to CAN/US wireless numbers
2500 Call Forwarding minutes to CAN/US numbers
CiD, 6GB
Google Voice for visual voice mail with message transcription, conditional greetings, unlimited messages (vs 35 message cap), remote retrieval from any PC or phone, no auto-purge after 10 days and most importantly no $7-$8 charge.
BB is locked once it's set. Unless you can replace the chip, you can not downgrade.
JB is not the same as unlocking. You Can Not Unlock
